Chelsea to Swoop for Khedira!

Chelsea to Swoop for Khedira!

Grabbing the tabloid papers off the newsagent`s shelf this morning and immediately turning to the back page, one headline screams out at you.

Our friends over at the Daily Mirror are of the opinion that Jose Mourinho is set to put the kybosh on Arsenal`s move for the German international Sami Khedira.

It would appear that although Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Real Madrid player there has, as of yet, been no contact between the two parties.

Khedira, who is about to enter the last year of his contract at Madrid, is considered a saleable option by the Spanish club who are fearful of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The price being suggested for a player who has shown he has fully recovered from his knee injury, with some authoritative displays in the 2014 World Cup as Germany stormed to the final; is reported to be £20 million with a weekly salary of something in the region of £150,000 a week.

Having played under Jose Mourinho when he was at Real Madrid could we see Chelsea signing Khedira to give us a midfield that would look like Matic - Khedira and Fabregas?

The floor is all yours!

Not an upgrade on Pogba but a far cheaper alternative who would do a good job regardless.
12/07/2014 10:55:00
If Pogba won't come for anything less than 45m, then we should consider Khedira......
12/07/2014 11:01:00
It would be a nice deal "only if" we dispose of of Mikel or Ramires cos he is an upgrade to both of them.
12/07/2014 11:27:00
dispose *one of*
12/07/2014 11:27:00
I would never displace ramires for pogba.. i rather spend that sum on james.. Much better
12/07/2014 12:29:00
Why aren't we selling? We need to sell: Mikel, Marin, Romeu, Ba, Loan out Moses too.
12/07/2014 12:41:00
I disagree with most of the posters here, sami Khadera at the price listed is a signing i would be very happy about and i am hopeful it happens. As i have mentioned before Pogba is in my mind way overrated at the price listed for him and unless people have not watched Khadera long enough..he is a major upgrade over both Ramires and Mikel. He has the versatility to play both CM and DM and he is German..there is a reason they are in the finals of this world cup and were in the Semis last time around. This fellow is a born winner and a true "Mourinho type" player. Preventing the Gunners from getting him is an added bonus because those guys are starting to worry me a bit with their acquisition of Sanchez. As far as a Regista we may not end up getting one as Fabregas may well end up being deployed in that capacity as he played that role quite a bit when he was with the gunners. Certainly i would take Khadera over someone like song mentioned on another thread and even pay up to 5m more to get him instead of someone like Song. Pogba is a pipe dream..there is no way Juve will sell both vidal and Pogba and both Pogba and his agent have said publicly he is staying at Juve. Besides that in my mind he is simply not worth the 60mill + release clause in his contract that Juve will absolutely insist on getting.

Completely agreed @GabeU. Khedira is certainly an upgrade on both Ramires and Mikel. Also he could be available on the cheap as he is entering his last year on his RM contract. Pogba was always going to be a football fantasy. If we play 4-2-3-1 formation,Matic & Khedira would be very good for the pivot.
12/07/2014 14:23:00
I like Sami Khedira but I am quite frankly wary of his knees. Knee injuries more than 50% of the time always always re-occur. Secondly, the price being mentioned £25mm and £150k a week makes no sense. That will cost Chelsea £12mm a year with zero resale value (assuming a 5 year contract). If he re injures his knees, you have a less costlier Torres on our roster (like Michael Essien in his last couple of years). Paul Pogba at even the absolute stupid price of £60mm will cost Chelsea overtime than Sami Khedira. The press just loves to link Chelsea with former Jose Mourinho players. One fact that can't be denied however is Jose Mourinho is a fan of Pogba. This doesn't translate to, we will sign him, but impressed with his abilities.

I don't think Khedira is really an upgrade to Ramires and Mikel.
12/07/2014 17:11:00
I am on the fence as far as Khedira goes. I like him, but does he fit in with us or not is a concern.
12/07/2014 17:16:00
I don't think Khedira is really an upgrade to Ramires and Mikel. Maybe Mikel to an extent but certainly not Ramires. Khedira lacks the drive and high energy levels of Ramires, he is a better passer but his passing is not something that will "WOW" you either, he also misplaces his passes atimes and looks knackered most times during the final minutes of games unlike Ramires who never gets tired. His pace and power gives us extra advantage over the tired opponents at the final minutes of games.
12/07/2014 17:20:00
There must be a reason why Carlo wants Ramires and wants to release Khedira, why not give him a new contract with the huge wages he's demanding? Maybe his knees are finally damaged(as KakuFrnk said) or something else

Rumours are that DiMaria has rejected MUFC as they can't offer him UCL football and is close to signing for PSG. I really hope this is true.
