'If It's Football, It's Vital'

AFC Wimbledon 2 Chelsea 3

Chelsea kept their 100 per cent pre-season record intact in a five goal thriller this afternoon.

With Jose Mourinho`s squad still deprived of its World Cup stars, it was a young looking Chelsea side that started the fixture.

Matters got off to a poor start when the home side forced a corner in the first few seconds and when the ball was delivered to the far post Bennett rose unchallenged to head in off of the post.

Chelsea looking out of sorts were to go in 2-0 down at the break when Zouma got underneath a long ball and fouled Tubbs inside the penalty area. Tubbs picked himself up to plant the spot kick past Schwarzer.

Half time saw Mourinho make numerous substitutions but Chelsea took their time to get back into the game. It eventually took a goal from Terry to do just that with our captain prodding home a loose ball.

As the game moved into the last ten minutes Chelsea were to draw level when Salah, after having a shot blocked, reacted quickly to drill the rebound home.

It looked as if the game was to end 2-2 but there was to be a final twist when, a superbly taken corner saw Terry power a header home.

Off topic ; Salah's Chelsea career maybe threatened by a recall to Egypt for military service fro between 1-3 yrs

@Blue Mel the big question i have about this whole Salah military call up is how and why is it that this is just coming up now and no while he had been with FC Basel. I smell a rat somewhere and suspect someone within the Egyptian bureacracy is out to get him ( or failing that get paid a substantive sum under the table to make this go away). Lets see how this gets sorted out.

That is certainly 1 possibility Gabe

Personally I feel Salah is under a lot of pressure from Egypt to do well, both on and off the pitch. I don't know if anyone saw but he seemed to avoid shaking an Israeli teams hands before 2 matches. I have a feeling that the Muslim Vs Jews thing is weighing down on him. As Egypt is probably putting pressure on him to do certain things. But I'm pretty sure it will get overturned, it's not a strict country (like South Korea were with that Arsenal Player) and unless Egypt plan on intervening on the Gaza affair I doubt he'll be forced to serve the army.

^^Are you sure Egypt is not a strict country? Egypt is not any better than S. Korea in terms of oppression. There is nothing like freedom or human rights in those country. If you don't believe, you go ask the Al Jazeera journalists that have been locked up in Egypt for over 200 days now with no just reason.
