Linked to Real Madrid?

With Didier Drogba having re-signed for Chelsea, albeit on a one year-deal; speculation is rife that one of either Fernando Torres of Romelu Lukaku could be heading for the exit at Stamford Bridge.

One rumour that has just sprung to light throws up an interesting inference.

Apparently, over at Real Madrid, a certain Carlo Ancelotti is looking to make an addition to his strike force. With Real Madrid having sold Alvaro Morata to Juventus, the inference is that Ancelotti is interested in bringing Romelu Lukaku to the Bernabeu.

If so, we`d imagine that Chelsea would seek a permanent deal to bring in a cash sum that could be invested elsewhere. Also, with Romelu and his agent not being short of a few things to say about his career and his abilities, we`re imagining the grapevine will become very active over the next 48 hours.

This rumour has been under water for some time. I got this story some three weeks back but it wasn't as serious but i expect it to fuel-up because Morrata has been sold by Madrid.
BOTUM
Time to Cash In. 25-30 million is Enough.
StamfordDLion
He can come off the bench at Madrid.
StamfordDLion
Lukaku is still on holiday right? Haven't heard him talking for a week or so.
StamfordDLion
There is some nonsense about Isco to Chelsea too.
ACLamp
If Lukaku won't sign a contract extension then we shud sell.. But if he's willing to fight off competition in the CFC squad to become no. 2 this season then no need to sell.
seanwillex
Imagine,he isn't good enough as second choice for chelsea but he will be good as second choice for Madrid right? For no reason should we sell lukaku,if we give the guy enough confidence and chance as second choice he will sign a new contract, funny how people want us to sign a 25 year old bony who score 16 goals in 34 league games and sell a 21 year lukaku who scored 15 goals in 31 league games..for no reason should we sell lukaku and keep torres...lukaku as second choice for chelsea would score more than the 5 goals torres scored as first choice for chelsea last season
Hazard11
@magic_quill wake up man so any player wanted by real is class?
the_blues
Dis is media crap. Madrid re trying to sign falcao on loan already
Demmyblues
it looks Lukaku does not want to be second choice for Us, he wants first team football, week in, week out. Will He accept to stay on the bench at real Madrid? Lets watch. @Magic-quill or whatever is your username, are you comparing Costa, Toress, Drogba to only Benzema???? I bet torress is even better than that Benzema guy... In the strikers department, we are better off than Real Madrid ATM
Ikdaniels
Sell them Torres, a Galacticos signing for the ages.
Seabourch
Lukaku to RealMadrid ?? C'mon, we all know that ain't gonna happen especially not with the way Perez being spending lately... Are the Cavani's n Falcao's of this world done yet ??? If Lukaku can't fight for his chances at Chelsea, what makes him think RealMadrid gonna be a better place ???
DonDhammih
Lukaku to be a Galactico ??? Someone needs to wake me up.....
DonDhammih
Anyways, it all depends on Lukaku and the decision makers at Chelsea... If Lukaku wants to stay & fight as our second choice CF, then let him stay... If he doesn't, I'm pretty sure we would cash in on him real good....
DonDhammih
The only thing worse than somebody suggesting that Lukaku is good enough to play at Chelsea, is that are suckers out there who would believe that a club like RM would even entertain the thought. Of course, let us all be reminded that a certain French club paid a world record fee for a certain error prone defender, so stranger things have happened. But common sense would tell anyone that this rumour is rubbish. If your common sense *isn't* hinting that to you, there may be a problem...
solid7
Lol forget common sense, everything and anything is possible in the transfer market, some dumb, some smart.
seanwillex
Hazard: Conveniently you don't count the other goals that Bony scored. He scored 25 goals last season for Swansea. His supporting cast were of weaker quality than Lukaku's.
StamfordDLion
(Real and Chelsea, which are the greater club?) For me, Chelsea is the Greatest Club.
StamfordDLion
(lukaku as second choice for chelsea would score more than the 5 goals torres scored as first choice for chelsea last season) Torres also scored 5 goals in ten matches in the Champions League. Just because Lukaku scored goals for Everton doesn't guarantee that he will score for Chelsea.
StamfordDLion
So if the club gets rid of lukaku then say worst case scenario costa gets hurt. We will have to rely on Torres who can't score and is done. And a 36 yr. old drogba who is also done. My word!!!
Pantera98
Mou has problems with young players.one could tell how he talked to lukaku ,cortoise and even hazard.he only belives in experience.can drogba offer much than lukaku or brahimi or aubameng who we wanted as no2 to costa?mou will sell all our young players if he stays futher, thats a fact.
mzee69
(mou will sell all our young players if he stays futher, thats a fact.) FACT? Chuckles.
StamfordDLion
(So if the club gets rid of lukaku then say worst case scenario costa gets hurt. We will have to rely on Torres who can't score and is done. And a 36 yr. old drogba who is also done. My word!!!) What makes you SURE that a player who has never scored for Chelsea (apart from scoring a goal in preseason) will carry the team?
StamfordDLion
If we could get Varane for Lukaku,it would be an even bigger steal than the money for Luiz but I don't think that Madrid would be that stupid. As our old CF Tony Cascarino has said,Jose doesn't rate Lukaku to play for him.
THEBREEZE
Stamfordlion quit your bull***** about Bony. Bony scored 16 in 34 PL appearances and 25 in 48 overall. Lukaku 15 in 31 appearances and 16 in 33 overall. Nvm goals per min ratio and the fact that Bony is entering his prime years and Lukaku is still in development phase.
ACLamp
I'd also argue that Swansea were a one man team compared to Everton which explains average mid table strikers like Bent nearing the top of the golden boot charts since all the chances usually are channeled to one dude. You know that "it's one thing being good at Everton another at Chelsea" affects Bony at a greater rate than a younger Romelu Lukaku.
ACLamp
Better to have a 25 year old striker who is entering his prime years than a 21 year old developing striker (who ironically thinks that he is already a COMPLETE STRIKER) who Talks a Lot and Whose Commitment to Chelsea is SUSPECT and Up in the Air.
StamfordDLion
Everybody having their own opinions as to how José and the board either rate or don't rate Lukaku. The truth is CFC have been shrewd with their transfers in the last three summers. Don't think they will all of a sudden sell Lukaku just because he is a "talkative". If KDB Luiz and Mata could fetch us good money despite been fringe players then saying £25m will be cool money for Lukaku is kinda under-rating him. My point is CFC isn't gonna sell Lukaku to Everton,Wolfsburg or Madrid. He will come back, sign an extension, while playing and also learning from Drogba(his mentor)
DANNYGOLD
Bony and Lukaku are essentially on the same level. Lukaku's ceilling is higher than Bony. In fact he could be better than "peak" Bony before he reaches his own "peak".
ACLamp
No comment until real pre season game starts....let wait till the end of transfer (august) b4 you blame anyone.
Olalemi Oluwaseyi Ol
But then, just like last year, the lad is confronted with the same situation i.e having many strikers around. Question is let's see if he is ready to fight (atleast there is no WC approaching this time around) or if he believes a 36years old drogba/ a struggling torres is too much for him to displace. I would trust the judgment of our board and jose, who are the insider with perhaps better understanding and have been quiet on this issue so far.
kolagold25
kola: How have I bad mouthed Lukaku? Do point to the points that I have made which seem like I am bad mouthing him. Its fair to compare him to Bony. Its fair to assess a player who thinks that he is a complete player and who has yapped a lot. The language that I have used to criticise him PALES in Comparison to the Language and Name Calling that some people resort to using when bashing Torres.
StamfordDLion
ACLamp: Or Lukaku could be a BUST. Maybe Bony will be a Better Team Player and Much more APPRECIATIVE of Chelsea.
StamfordDLion
Or Bony could be find himself like Ba on the bench and want out.
ACLamp
Lukaku might run his mouth too much but at least he has confidence. Maybe he can teach Torres how to be confident. I love drogba just as much as anyone but if the squad needs drogba to come back for a morale boost then we are in trouble.
Pantera98
Lukaku to Wolfsburg €25m?
CobhamBlue
Lukaku has been really VOCAL regarding Lack of Chances at Chelsea/Chelsea's Pursuit of Strikers/His desire to seek opportunities elsewhere/His perception of himself as a COMPLETE STRIKER. He has given ample indications that he wants out/is not happy is play second fiddle.
StamfordDLion
Pantera: I am afraid you are mistaking his ARROGANCE for Confidence.
StamfordDLion
Wolfsburg? - that's more like it. Top club for top player. He can go on have a lazy bromance with that de bruyne kid.
FS
kola I would also like to see proof of this "bad mouthing". All the people who seem to be in support of Lukaku can never actually point out the "bad mouthing, nonsense, etc." only claim it. SDL almost always repeats EXACTLY what Lukaku said and judges him accordingly on that, never insults or anything. But as SDL pointed out on the flip side words like cockroaches, mosquitoes, idiots, morons, etc. has been used not mention statements as "that is nonsense" without any intention of debating as to why it is nonsense except the fact of disagreement.
BlueMIA
Re you guys seriously thinking real madrid really wanna sign lukaku? Sounds like mourinho was sending a msg to lukaku with his comments abt costa yesterday. I dnt think lukaku will leave nd if he does, nt to madrid. He would nt want to swap one bench for a longer one
Demmyblues
If Lukaku leaves it will be because he is a puss who doesn't want to compete for the 2nd striker position with misfiring floppy Torres and a 36 yr old mentor and legend Drogba. If that is the case, Wolfsburg will be a quite decent place for the lazy kid. They already got one off our hands in lazy De Bruyne.
FS
@magic-quill, your stupidi-ty is beyond comprehension. Go home and take your drugs...
Ikdaniels
Whatever happens,I'll wait till Sept 1st before concluding. But I believe Lukaku deserves a chance at Chelsea....it's Torres who has been given a lot of chances and yet has come short in all. The fact that Jose himself hasn't said about this anything is a bit weird but still shows why we should all not rush into coclusions yet. I wonder why any journalsit can't just ask him about Lukaku and see what he says.
Samychim
For all the people here who say that Mourinho has a problem with young players - what club do you know that wins everything with a squad full of young players, just out of curiosity? And since we're talking about it, what is the average age of the Chelsea squad? What is the average age of every other EPL squad? Unless you can actually answer these questions, you are talking blindly out of your arse...
solid7
...what makes things surprising is when some of us compare Lukaku's goal stats to someone who played in the Europa league and other competitions....Bony and Lukaku goals shouldn't be in the same comparison except ffor their league goals.Who can tell that if Lukaku played in the Europa League that he wouldn't have had more goals than Bony has? Besides Bony is at his peak or close to it,and Lukaku is a developing striker ,yet their goal stats are almost on the same level. If it's true that Madrid want him then that would add them to the group of top and midtable clubs that have had interest in him(Juventus,A.Madrid,Wolfsburg,Spurs,Everton,Liverpool and possibly Madrid) compared to mainly midtable cubs bidding for Bony(Spurs, Liverpool and maybe Arsenal).
Samychim
Whoever said Real Madrid was interested in Lukaku, is clearly trolling. That donkey isn't even good enough to be a towel boy at RM. Thanks for laughs, though. Genius!

Samychim: You talk as if Lukaku's goal tally is FAR SUPERIOR than Bony's. Bony scored 16 League Goals Last season in 34 Matches. He scored 1 More League Goal than Lukaku last season. Bony played 3 more League Matches than Lukaku. Lukaku scored 15 League Goals in 31 Goals. What I don't understand is posters trying to Undermine Bony. Bony scored 16 League Goals last season ALBEIT Playing 3 More Matches than Lukaku. Its not as if Lukaku scored 10 more Goals than BONY. Have you heard Bony saying that he is a COMPLETE PLayer? Its clear that Lukaku HIMSELF Doesn't See Himself as a DEVELOPING PLayer. In his Eyes, He is World Class.
StamfordDLion
People trying to undermine EUROPA ought to go and check the teams that play in the Europa. Yes, its not the CL BUT there are teams out there who are not Championship Level and Far Superior than Mid-Table Premiership Teams. Sevilla the Europa League Winners of 2014 came 5th in La Liga Last Season. The Current La Liga Winners and CL Runners up Atletico Won the Competition in 2012 and Chelsea in 2013. Spurs who are not mid-table play in Europa.
StamfordDLion
People fail to appreciate and give CREDIT to Bony for scoring 25 Goals in more than 40 Matches. Have you thought about his FITNESS Level? Its wonderful that he was able to keep himself FIT and Injury Free. Ask WEST HAM How they feel about ANDY "Always Injured" Caroll. Its not easy to be FIT and Play Lots of Matches. Give Credit where its due.

shlok: At least I post Proper Stats while criticising Lukaku (if you don't agree with my stats, be free to counter with stats of your own). At least I don't resort to hurling personal insults, abuses, derogatory terms without proper stats at the manager and players.
StamfordDLion
BlueMIA: Agree. Solid7 has posted a post containing a Solid Point.
StamfordDLion
I'm not saying he didn't score more league goals than Lukaku ,but how much goals are we talking about? Just one more. In how many more games ? Just 3 more. Clearly very little samples to use as your basis for facts. Even satisticians don't make use of such negligible differences in quantity. What am saying is that ,you have always rather been the one hyping up Bony as being better than Lukaku by far as though the differences are a gulf in class. I know Bony is a good striker and wouldn't mind him in our squad if he was a different kind of striker to Lukaku. But the difference in both players ren't as wide as you've been sounding all this while bro. The fact Lukaku says those things doesn't come into play in facts,,because they become sentimental facts, relative to different kind of personalities, not scientific facts,if you wanna talk facts. So compare performance based facts and you'll see that there isn't much difference despite Lukaku being younger and thus has a higher celing than someone who's already at his peak yet still at the same level statwise as someone who's still developing.
Samychim
Nobody is undermining Bony's achievement. You keep on bringing him up as a better striker then somebody points out the age disparity. In fact you were disengnius at the beginning buy saying that Bony scored 25, without proper context, and deriding Lukaku for his 16.
ACLamp
And no one is underating Europa but only adding that you can't add Europa stats when comparing to someone who didn't play in Europa League or a similar amount of games in that regard otherwise you'ld be sentimentally doctoring facts to suit your arguement
Samychim
Bony had to play more matches and be a part of more competitions than Lukaku. Lukaku one can argue, was in a state like Liverpool. Liverpool only had to concentrate on the league because they crashed out of the FA and Capital Cup early (if I am not Mistaken). Lukaku also had the Luxury of only having to Concentrate on Playing in the League. He was more far more rested and didn't have to travel like Bony one can argue.
StamfordDLion
Samychim: The fact that Lukaku while being a Chelsea Employee and a player of his "Dream Club" says that he is Flattered by Juventus, or he was Upset when he saw Eto and BA in the dressing room, or he pushed for a loan move last season at the 11th hour and Jose had to compel him to admit to the Media that it was Lukaku himself that asked for a move, or the fact that he said that many clubs are interested in him and that he is going to use the World Club to make himself more attractive to other clubs MATTERS. You can't brush aside these transgressions under the carpet and say that they don't mean a thing and can't be used while comparing him to Bony.
StamfordDLion
You cannot say Bony has better fitness to Lukaku when Lukaku hasn't played in as much competitions as him,and in those was seen to experience fitness problems, extreme fatigue or was not allowed to play the same amount of games as Bony because of his fitness levels. The comparison is between Bony and Lukaku not Bony and Andy Caroll. You can only say Bony was better if we place the same amonunt of cometitions of both players on the same pedestal. In this issue this does not apply. You cannot tell whether if given the same amount of opportunities as Bony Lukaku would perform the same, better or worse. This so-called facts is getting boring brother. It's now a norm to know who StamforLion is only when Lukaku-related articles are posted. If I want to see Stamford's post on any recent forum on VC,I would just write something about Lukaku and on he comes. It's becoming predictable bro. Think about it.
Samychim
There might not be much difference between Lukaku and Bony in terms of their Goal tally and playing ability BUT there is a difference between the two players in terms of they Talking Ability. Do post a quote of BONY where he has Disrespected or talked about Swansea in a Negative way.
StamfordDLion
(You cannot say Bony has better fitness to Lukaku) I have clearly stated in my post that "ONE Can Argue" I haven't said it as a Fact. Who knows? Lukaku may have broken down. Wasn't Lukaku injured at Everton?
StamfordDLion
Samychim: It seems you don't read other articles that have been posted on VC. In most articles I do give my thoughts (even articles that are not related to Lukaku). How many posters care to post their thoughts on other articles?
StamfordDLion
Samychim: What I find silly is posters gleefully bashing Torres but can't take the heat when people criticise Lukaku. So we only have to judge Lukaku on the basis of his playing ability and not take into consideration his Talking Ability? If one take into consideration his talking ability, its plain to see that his COMMITMENT and Dedication to Chelsea is SUSPECT. Why turn a Blind Eye and Sweep the Dirt under the Carpet?
StamfordDLion
You are persistent, I give you that. I for one like Bony more than Lukaku not because how many goals he scored but because I think he is far more complete striker than Lukaku and I think he would fit in better at Chelsea than Lukaku. This is my personal opinion based on what I have seen of them both. I argue that even though Lukaku is twice as big as Bony (not really, but you get what I mean), Bony is twice as tough as Lukaku. He also has much better technique and vision. One thing that Lukaku has and is almost unmatched is his strength while sprinting, and his sprinting is fast. But, as some argue that Ramires is nothing but a runner and no good athletic type or whatever, so can be said about Lukaku who is in that case only a sprinter. Right?
FS
On 28 January 2014, Lukaku suffered an ankle ligament damage. He was INJURED till 1 March 2014. He missed the whole month of February due to injury. Check out Bony's injury record while playing for Swansea. He didn't miss much.
StamfordDLion
God knows what will happen to Bony but I would like him in our ranks (personal opinion). Proper competition for Drogba, Torres and perhaps Costa too.
StamfordDLion
^^^ You are heading for the VC EXIT I am afraid. Bon Voyage.

There's been no place were this 'Talking ability' is being used as a yardstick to guage how great a player is. Ronaldo de Lima was a good talker but he's still El Phenomeno. Suarez has a good 'biting ability' but Barca still want him and many clubds would relish having him in their squad. Ronaldinho was a good party man but he's still regarded for his onfield exploits not his off-field antics. Same with Terry, same with Beckham, same with Cristiano Ronaldo. These guys even when they were younger still had 'big mouths',aside from Terry. From what I see,Lukaku has NEVER made a direct personal attack at Chelsea. He might say this or that about his disatisfaction about how Chelsea is run or how the manager rates him but he's never made a direct attack at them. By your logic Monaco fans should crucify James Rodrigues for openly exclaiming that he's proud of Madrid's interest in him and that he would love to play for them. Or we should label players like Vidal,J.Martinez,Luke Shaw and the likes 'disrespectful' when they openly admit being proud of other top club's interest in them. This is Footballspeak bro. It happens. These are not strict indicators of club loyalty to any player
Samychim
Compare the things Lukaku says about Chelsea to the things he said about AvB. Now don't get me wrong, please, I'm not defending the guy,he clearly talks more than he should and should learn to shut his trap and only says important and necessary things to the press, cause no one extracts such statements from him under duress. But to say things like he disrepspects Chelsea may be a bit too far. And even if he's not being selfdisciplined enough, and even though he humorously cor boasts he's complete enough,(which is really laughable)that doesn't take away his playing ability
Samychim
Samychim: If you have been following all the Lukaku discussions that I have been a part since he started Yapping, you would have noticed that my Primary Argument is that I only care about Chelsea and only want players at Chelsea who appreciate the club and respect the club as a club employee. I don't care how other clubs handle their players. Its not as if Chelsea can't do without Lukaku. Lukaku can't hold Chelsea for Ransom. There are far better players than Lukaku at present. I don't want players in our squad whose LOYALTY to Chelsea is Debatable. If you have been following my arguments then you will be aware that I criticise Lukaku more for his lack of Commitment and Talking Ability than his Playing Ability.
StamfordDLion
“You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker - But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer"
StamfordDLion
^^^ His commitment to Chelsea is Suspect. For me, more than any individual player, CHELSEA Matters the Most. I don't want Potential Disruptive Players in Our Squad. Have you realised who are the ones that are Gleeful and Happy when Lukaku drags us through the dirt? The Chelsea Hating Media and Fans of Other Clubs. I as a Chelsea fan can't digest this at all.

StamfordDLion
^^^ Compare Kenneth Omeruo's comments with Lukaku's. Can you see the difference?
StamfordDLion
That's why I said this talking ability is relative. You might see it as a taboo, but another man may see it differently,or as,though not good, but not so much of a big deal. Some may see it as a good thing even as simply words from the mouth of a clearly ambitious young striker. Thus such issues aren't things we should use to measure the greatness of a player. It is simply his quality on the pitch of play that does that. Yes his hold-up play, his passing, his first touch and his endurance needs to improve,he still has a lot of potential and is slowly shaping up in development. Drogba and Bony weren't much better,if even close to him, when they were at his current age. We may debate and debate over this from now till heaven falls, but it the club that stil makes the ultimate decision that neither you nor I can influence. We've made our different points on this issue,so let's sit back and just watch things unfold. *NB:I meant player's loyalty to any club,in my posts above
Samychim
Fair Enough. Lets see how this drama will unfold. Lets see if Lukaku will be a Chelsea player. Lets see if he will be happy to sit on the bench on a regular basis. Lets see if he will dare to push Jose's HAND like he did to Wilmot (Belgian Manager) when he was substituted and 19 year old Origi was fielded (I will be surprised if anyone condones the way he acted when he was substituted) For you, his comments on moving away, using the WC as a platform to sell himself, etc might not mean much BUT for me, Words are powerful. Words Challenge Authority and Harmony.

Well Lukaku returns to training next week lets see what happens , things should be much clearer by the end of the coming week .

And Everton's Head of Recruitment Ian Atkins has further fueled rumours of a move back to Goodison for Lukaku, saying that he believes the striker wants a Merseyside return. 'Romelu had a terrific season for Everton last year and I know everyone at the football club wants to see him back,' Atkins told talkSPORT. 'Hopefully things can be sorted out, I think he’s quite settled in his mind that he wants to come to Everton, and hopefully he’ll be pulling on our blue shirt again next term. 'Our loan signings all did brilliant for us last season. Gareth Barry has signed permanently now which is fantastic, and hopefully Lukaku will as well.'

people of StamfordDLion's calibre are what we need to improve. have we forgotten what Diego Costa (a proven striker) said, well if you have let me tell u. he said he knows Chelsea is a big team who have big players and will have to work hard before he can make it here. He added he is yearning to improve here. These are the few words of a world class striker. Lukaku who has instituted himself as a complete striker which nobody knows is not ready to fight, he wants to be given automatic 1st choise striker which will be crazy for me if Jose grants. If he is not ready, he should leave, there are loads of players out there who are better than him. Lukaku 1st choise my foot, it will never happen untill he has gained it.
DeepBlue1
Distinct possibility that Lukaku will not join up with the Chelsea tour, he is angling for a move, why bother with showing up on the tour? To me, that will be the best outcome, keep his disruption out of our preparations for the new season.

Though I keep guessing or deducing your oppinions from your articles,I think I,like some others like me, may be expecting a bit more from you. Though I deduce you've got a busy schedule just as I'm used to,until recently when some of my workload got lighter. Samychim--------------I'm too busy tidying up the mess people like McQ are leaving :-(

I am totally stunned by the amount of mental and emotional energy folks put into this website....its either they are really young and have no worries or their study/career is not challenging enough...or they are just outrightly frustrated....this is a site to share opinions, argue like genuine adults intelligently and have a laugh...get a grip guys...get a grip!
