Young at Heart?

Young at Heart?

Although, as far as I`m concerned, I`m fast approaching my twilight years and I`m at the time of life whereby I really should show that I`m a sensible, upstanding member of the community, that isn`t always the case.

They say that men never really grow up and that inside every mature looking male there remains an element of a child, well reflecting over a few words in the tabloid press today, I`d say that is certainly the case. I may be mature on the outside but inside, well you probably know the score!

You see, the young devil inside of me still thinks it`s hilarious when somebody slips over on the ice (have you noticed though they always get up quicker than they fell) or when somebody picks up a bag of shopping and the bottom falls out of the bag, resulting in me giggling like a madman.

Well something that happened last season had that effect on me!

You see I was one of those who grimaced more and more, each weekend, as Liverpool closed in on that first ever Premier League title. As the games started to run out, it looked more and more likely that the side who are obsessed with their history would be lifting that precious trophy ahead of ourselves and Manchester City.

Heck, even when Steven Gerrard got his troops in a huddle and told them there would be no slip-ups as they close din on the title, I was contemplating a summer hibernating somewhere where there would be no red-shirted geeks to remind me of what had gone on before.

But it wasn`t to be, the dream evaporated in seconds when the same Steven Gerrard slipped over and Demba Ba skipped through to score, thereby putting Manchester City in the driving seat for the title. Memories of Gerrard`s slip and his subsequent attempts to try and get back to his feet will be an abiding memory of last season.

However, Gerrard places that moment as amongst the worst in his life in an interview that most tabloids have picked up on this morning, in fact the Liverpool skipper reckons it heralded the worst three months of his life what with England`s pathetic World Cup campaign.

Strange then that one mans misfortune continues, when I re-watch it, to have me in a fit of giggles, what was it I was discussing when it comes to us males always retaining an element of childishness?

But I wouldn`t have it any other way would you?

Now where`s my train set!

The Love Affair between Pool and the Media was Nauseating to say the least. Glad we were the party poppers.

It happens. Steve G. is rightly up there among the best midfielders that have graced the game (he has understandably waned as all others do). Only if not for the unworthy media hype surrounding him & hilariously placing him above the legend that is Lampard, he wouldn't have been a hate figure

Happy they didn't win it. We will use Gerrard to teach younger players about jumping at opportunities when big clubs come calling; if He had joined us...

IKdaniels: Figuratively speaking, some Pool fans were holding a Gun at Gerrard's head to stop him from moving to Chelsea.

Its funny he says the slip against Chelsea was the worst day of his life . Slippy G seems to have some memory loss ,like those two assists to Suarez in the England vs Ecuador match . Than we have "The Miracle In Crystanbul " just over a week after the great slip . I was watching the United vs Inter game and the commentator kept going on and on about their upcoming interview with "Inspirational Captain Steven Gerrard " ,at half time we were treated to pics of Slippy with the CL trophy and Slippy's camera mugging group hug one week before it all fell apart . I hope City spank them tonight ,yes its only a friendly but its still enjoyable . As it seems the bin dippers have given Slippy some new mega deal (they seem to do that every other year just to seek publicity )and the Media are just awash with Slippy being the second coming ,i really hope they tank next season and Slippy and Brenda are restored to mid table .
