Going, Going……………Gone!

The grapevine has been alive, all afternoon, with the inference that Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Stamford Bridge.

As I predicted / implied yesterday, there was never going to be anyway that Lukaku would be with us come the end of the transfer window.

Now it appears that the move is all but done with Everton set to pay a fee, said to be around the £24 million mark, for the player.

If you doubt the above, then simply ask yourselves why Everton have called a press conference for 19:00 hours this evening!

The word seems to be £24m plus add-ons if Everton win something or qualify for the UCL, potentially taking the deal to £30m.

Good business. End of an unnecessary drama saga. Forward we go...

what a joke its turning out once gain...chelsea has lost the plot.once again...first with sturridge and now with lukaku...selling two potential top class young HG striker for cheap....its a dumb decesion...to sell lukaku and keep player like torres and drogba here...
shlok27
in the world where HG players like shaw lallana are going on inflated price...why the hell we are selling him for so cheap...we bought him for 18 million..and selling him for 24 million...i mean wtf

Apart from the ad-ons i hope CFC have inserted a sell on clause of like say 25% similar to the ones done by Arsenal wrt to Fabregas. Let him go wherever as i consider him a coward unable to stay & fight for his place. Am so disappointed about that news i must say. Smh!
Jerry Blues
shlok27, But Lukaku wants to be guaranteed first choice which is not going to happen at Chelsea. Lukaku is agitating for the move and Chelsea - who received a £5m loan fee last season - are going to receive another £25m. Near enough paying for Diego Costa. I wish Lukaku would have stayed and fought for his place put he didn't have the heart and Jose will not put up with players that will not fight for the jersey. Good luck to the guy I think he has found his level. He might be the next Darren Bent.
CobhamBlue
shlok27.. take a chill pill mate. we will sign some replacement. dont worry. i am getting feeling we will sign remy.
ChampionBlue
Drinks on me! Cheers :)
StamfordDLion
shlok27, Chelsea bought Lukaku for £12m plus add-ons which would take it to £18m but he never triggered the add-ons. If you say we bought him for £18m then we sold him for £30m. Also, my understanding is Everton paid a £5m loan last season. So we have received around £30m + add-ons.
CobhamBlue
yeah. how can we keep the player who just want garanteed starting spot? and no competition? good business. bcoz getting 25 million for him is i feel a really good business. all the best to the lad though
ChampionBlue
peace at last for cfc now lets invest the money on other striker n move torres too ... he will regret his big mouth now playing europa should have been grateful to cfc for investing on him
gary777
Home grown ,a talent in the making and we sell him so cheap . If Costa gets suspended or injured we are stuck with Torres and an aging Drog ..
Michael Reid
I always said that Lukaku's COMMITMENT to Chelsea is SUSPECT. Some Chelsea Fan Lukaku is!
StamfordDLion
Looking forward to see some members bash Jose. Chuckles.
StamfordDLion
@Cobhamblue, that's exactly the point i wanted to make. We bought him for £12 million. The add-ons were performance related but he never really make serious appearances to help us win anything. He's been on loan for two seasons now. So selling him for £30 million (including add-ons) is a huge business. Kudos the top brass. We can now move on and talk about more serious matters. I was thorn in between selling and keeping him but now the decision has been made. All the best to him against Man city, united, liverpool and arsenal but not us.
BOTUM
Don't blame JOSE and CHELSEA. Jose and Chelsea grated his wish to go out on LOAN in the 11th hour of the Transfer Window Last Season. Now they have Granted his Wish of being SOLD to Everton.
StamfordDLion
A Potential Disruptive Player is off the hook.
StamfordDLion
He has acted like he is a world class striker for a couple of years and hasn't been anywhere near world class in my opinion. Should've stayed and fought for his place instead of whining like a petulant child
Janner blue
Whew!!!! Finally, we all can rest...... Now, let's get a second choice striker who can work in tight spaces & find a buyer for Torres also.......
DonDhammih
I don't know how anyone can say we sold him cheaply. We received a £5m loan fee last season. We are receiving £25m today with the potential of another £5m if he is a big success. Potential £30-35m for a player that has never proved himself at top club, never really proved himself in the Champions League & didn't exactly pull up any trees at the World Cup. And there wasn't exactly a clamor of top clubs after him! We have extracted £30m out of Everton. What did we sell Sturridge for? £12m? We've learned our lesson.
CobhamBlue
he was brainwashed in everton badly it seems ... we should never loan any of our players to them ... better to lower rank team but no europa or other high rank team we can get a new striker anytime people would die to play at cfc even being second striker
gary777
Big YES to "FFP" We are doing alright. We have a sound financial plan and set up. Big Applause to Jose, Emanelo and other members of the Chelsea staff.
StamfordDLion
Good riddance. Mourinho masterstroke again with the fee. Same as with Luiz. Brilliant!

Total wrong to sell LUKAKU and keep the likes of V Moses & J Mikel we will surely regret it if......

gary: Figuratively Speaking, We just sold a Ping Pong Bat for the Price of a Tennis Racquet to Everton. I say, we should keep on doing business with them.
StamfordDLion

Solanke is better than Lukaku btw. ;)
FS
@shlok27 - Lukaku is nowhere near world class, and does not show potential to be such. Not in this world.
solid7
Anyone who believes that Lukaku is a potential world class player, has never played the game. Real world class players show constant improvement from a young age, and have a whole different aura and dimension to their game. In all likelihood, Lukaku is as good as he's going to get.
solid7
He'll be fast for a couple of more years. Then he will become fat and slow. :)
FS
Gotta say for all the hopes I had for Lukaku, I am disappointed in Lukaku. Thought this kid would have stayed back at least this year and fought for his place with Drogba and Costa. And if it didn't work out, he would have asked for a sale. All this talk about DROGBA this and that should have been proved this season. The Boy fecked up really. Let's see who Mou brings in this summer because I am not falling for Torres as back up. Never in a lifetime.
KAKUfrank
LOL! Mine's a pint Stamford!
BlueABS
Spent a lot of time thinking the press was was twisting his words; the boy really screwed up. He is only 21 and has at least a year to make a decision. Even Sturridge that is considered selfish was patient for at least 3.5 seasons on a Chelsea bench.
KAKUfrank
Totally agree Solid7, he's not Chelsea quality that's for sure.
BlueABS
Great point, KAKUfrank. Sturridge was a saint, by comparison, and really more of a victim of the circumstances. (the management merry-go-round) Of the two, Sturridge was truly the one that got away. World class player, to be sure.
solid7
I'm really glad SDlion had his way! I was totally annoyed by all his (Lukaku) tweets and hints all these past months and now he has had his wish which was to be number 1 striker in a club going nowhere. Hope he fulfills his potential but I very much doubt it. Anyone up for Chicarito or Bony?

And great points on Sturbridge, I never even saw him as greedy. Lukaku doesn't get any sympathy from near what I gave Sturbridge who truly deserved it.
BlueMIA
If anyone should get some blame for this situation going wrong besides Lukaku then honestly it could be AVB.
BlueMIA
I still think there might be a transfer merry-go-round involving Torres/Falcao/Chelsea/Monaco/Real Madrid. It will possibly a Falcao loan to Real Madrid and Torres loan Monaco. It could still mean Chelsea will need a new striker -Bony? Remy? Cavani? or stick with Schurrle maybe? I still think Cech might end up at PSG. Plenty of changes still to come I reckon.
CobhamBlue
^I believe so too. Especially with Lukaku leaving I just don't think Drogba and Torres is enough cover.

BlueMIA, The original cock-up with Lukaku was Chelsea letting him start the season with Anderlecht before signing him just before the transfer window closed. The intention was to send him on loan to Stoke but somebody at Chelsea did not know you could not loan a player out to another Premier League club in the same window you signed him. This meant he was stuck at Chelsea not playing. To compound the error Chelsea then played him in a League Cup match which meant he had played for 2 different clubs that season, which is the maximum allowed by UEFA, so he could no longer go to Stoke on loan in the January window. The result was his 2011/12 season was as good as wasted through numerous Chelsea cock-ups. If he had gone on loan in 1 January 2012 and done well, everything might have turned out differently.
CobhamBlue
BlueMIA: Throughout the past month and a half, so called Lukaku Haters always used Facts and Stats to argue and debate.
StamfordDLion
Will be content if we get BONY. Andre can play as a Striker But would be nice if we can add one more. Lets see what Jose has in store.
StamfordDLion
SDL: What was a big surprise to is that I sometimes as you posted literally what Lukaku said and would criticize him and call him out for being negative and foolish with his comments. Literally nothing else from my end, that is where you and me differed. I wasn't of the opinion that he should be sold and that's that. You were very vocal with getting rid of him early on. And I totally respected your opinion because of his mouth and lack of completeness he lost sympathy from me although yes I stated that of it were up to me I would have still liked to see him work out here. Now the surprising part to me is even though some members got all emotional and cry babies for the wrong reasons when it came to you I understand, they were wrong to insult you and call you a hater but I can see the emotion come into play. A certain member here claimed I posted nothing but non sense on Lukaku and how much I hate him, that I could not for the life of me figure out why. Congrats on remaining a gentleman throughout this whole process though some members can really learn since playing favorites clouds their judgement.
BlueMIA
BlueMIA: I am aware of your stance. I was clamouring for him to be sold. Civil debates are interesting and makes VC such a wonderful site for all of us to share our thoughts and interact with each other. Cheers.

Yes 28m will we re invest does anybody think and should we any thoughts?

DONE. lukaku's Everton move confirmed. This long running saga/drama is over. Real shame but in the end best for both parties. Time to move on. 28 mill pounds is a decent deal.
syed230183_chelseafc
It's a shame that we had to sell lukaku even if it's for 28m pounds plus 5m pounds loan fee last season, gutted to see him to leave, just watch him develop and go to another club for over 55m pounds..
Hazard11
@Hazard11, ...or just watch him grow and lose value a la FT9. :)

Disappointed in him going to Everton, Might just rot there.
ACLamp
Lukaku, Luiz, Mata, KDB. 4 players Mourinho didn't want. That'll be £120m thank you very much.
CobhamBlue
That is a decent deal for us. No complaints and time to move on from this topic. No recriminations or regrets, wish him luck (not at our expense though) and we can concentrate on who we still have.

Going the way of Anelka.

Number of goals Lukaku scored for Chelsea: ZERO.--------------------- Number of pounds Chelsea sold Lukaku for: TWENTY EIGHT MILLION!!!!!!

Too true Cobham!! ;-)

How stupid. we sell Lukaku for 10m more than we bought him despite the fact that he's 21 and our 2nd best ST. Meanwhile that piece of ***** Torres is hear sucking 175k/week, yet Mourinho keeps him. And Drogbas back, even though he's currently worse than Torres. In 5 years time we'll be submitting a 50m bid for Lukaku. He's only 21 FFS and he still scores 15+ goals a season in the PL. So what we're stuck with costa drogba torres for next season. when costa gets injured we'll be worse off than last season. So far we've sold Luiz Mata KDB and Lukaku and gotten Zouma Fabregas Salah and Drogba in return. Great business. Apart from Fabregas for Mata the other 3 are *****.
Humza_96
Everton confirmed the fee is £28m.
CobhamBlue
I don't know where you guys got 25 million from but everton confirmed it is 28 million "Everton ✔ @Everton CONFIRMED: @RomeluLukaku9 becomes our Club-record signing, arriving from Chelsea on a 5-year deal for a fee of £28million. #WelcomeHomeRom"
cfctoruletheworld
Humza_96, We bought Matic & Costa as well. You left them off your list of purchases. Mourinho can't get rid of Torres. He is trying. Lukaku only cost Chelsea £12m not £18m and his only contribution to Chelsea was costing us the UEFA Super Cup against Pep. Thanks for that Romelu!!!
CobhamBlue
@Humza96 you left Matic and Costa off the bought list of yours. These 2 plus Fabregas and even Zouma balances it out. Salah can improve.
syed230183_chelseafc
Bertrand to Southampton on loan confirmed.
syed230183_chelseafc
also Luiz is £40M+8M add ons not £50M. So this summer we've spent £82M and made £74M. We are now an efficent club like arsenal, selling better quality players and buying cheap alternatives with the potential to do well(salah) and of course resigning former players on a free transfer. (arsenal did the same to sol campbell.) We've only spent £8M so Mourinho better go buy us someone decent with the money we still have to spend. And I don't mean Cavani/Lavezzi and 100% don't mean wasting £60M on Pogba.
Humza_96
@Humza you re very wrong, I don't believe Lukaku will ever worth 50 million and we didnt pay 18 million for him we paid 12 million for him as his add ons was never activated. you said we sold Luiz, nata, KDB and Lukaku and got Zouma, Fab, Salah and Drogba. What about Costa and Matic. Mate we have done a very good business and it is good we sell Lukaku now rather than wait till next year when he wont be extending his contract
cfctoruletheworld
Ryan Bertrand on a season long loan to Southampton. OFFICIAL.
CobhamBlue
costa and matic were 2 players we would have signed regardless of selling mata/kdb and Lukaku. We were always going to buy a ST this summer even if Lukaku stayed. Whilst Mou wanted a decent DM so Matic would have come even if Mata stayed. That's why I never included those two
Humza_96
I dont know if there's anyone as relieved as me with this report. The air has been cleared, profit has been made and no more a certain player throwing jibes at us. Now let's go and sign another striker and our deals will be done for the summer. Balotelli will be my peferred choice (there's a reason arsenal haven't/couldnt sign him; maybe jose has called him up) ;)
kolagold25
What cheap alternatives??? Fab for mata(upgrade) Matic for KDb(upgrade) Costa for Lukaku( updgrade) Zouma for Luiz(not bad) considering Luiz at worldcup
cfctoruletheworld
How does anyone know if the add ons haven't been paid? They're normally something like making x amount of PL appearances which he probably did. And what if there was a sell on clause?
Humza_96
Humza_96, You also left Luis off your list. Fabregas, Luis, Matic & Costa are better players than Mata, Luiz, KDB & Lukaku (who has never scored for Chelsea). There will probably be at least one more in and probably 2 out (possibly Cech & Torres)
CobhamBlue
If lukaku was willing to stay he would be here. He chose to go to Everton so we cant keep a player who is not willing to stay. He wanted to be the first choice but we cant guarantee him that and the purchase of Costa doesnt go well with him. Chelsea were never interested in Drogba until Lukaku's situation
cfctoruletheworld
@cfctoruletheworld read my post 2 above yours. Costa/matic were going to happen anyways. The sale of lukaku had no impact on the costa signing. same wit KDB and matic
Humza_96
@cobhamblue. Luis was a replacement for Cole. Costa was coming anyways and is NOT a replacement for Lukaku. Drogba took Lukaku's place. Fabregas>Mata I already said was the only good one. Matic is not a replacement for anyone, he was a player that we needed at the time. KDB was replaced by Salah, who's *****. And Lukaku only started like 2 games for us, so it's not exactly like he went on a 15 game goal drought, unlike a certain *****head still at the club. Hopefully Torres and Mikel leave, at least that will make our Arsenal style tranfer window look decent.
Humza_96
I can sleep well now. i have always been thinking how is Lukaku's future look but now u can relax and enjoy. He has been distractive and would still have caused ditractions in the dressing room. No room for cowards at CFC.
DeepBlue1
Lukaku dug his own grave..... Players come and go.... Even if Lukaku becomes a Suarez/Balotelli/Borini/Bojan tomorrow, I wouldn't still care....

@kolagold25 lol. i am really going to dream big tonight. Let see how the coward fares this season.

The best lukaku has done as a chelsea employee was divide us fans and throw jibes at our dear club. Just take it as we invested few millions in him some years ago and now we have called in our profit. Fair imo
kolagold25
Some one here made a good point the other day. Lukaku is young but he is very big for his age and always was. One of the reasons he excelled as a youngster is his physique. Take his "potential" with a grain of salt considering size will be less of a factor now playing with adults.
BlueMIA
Jose was ready to give him an opportunity this season to claim his spot, but he decided to be in bed with Everton and the media
DeepBlue1
Now can we get Aubameyang or Icardi...pls Jose
Aminu Aliyu
Great business. I can't believe Everton had the money to buy him! Lukaku + £4m forCosta is a fantastic deal!
bintyandthebeast
With Costa and Drogba on board now with their win at any cost mentality will be great for squad morale....except Torres of course! Very excited about prospects of this season. Not sure Fabregas is best suited to the vacant position beside Matic, that's one for Van Ginkel to make his own, really like the boy and his approach.
bintyandthebeast
DeepBlue last season too. Jose on arrival gave a verbal assurance to/about Lukaku. He gave him minutes in games including 5th penalty against Bayern. Trusted him from start against Real Madrid. Granted him loan to Everton per Lukaku's request. Also stayed quite about him until months of being bugged by reporters and constant ***** talking from Lukaku until he finally lashed out with a simple "the boy loves to talk, ask him". So Lol at anyone acting like Jose woke up the morning after being hired by Chelsea gain and said "boy am I angry! Let me take my anger out on this kid o don't even know yet!".
BlueMIA
Humza_96 - just because Lukaku was our second best striker, doesn't mean that he's worth a damn, as such. That's a relative comparison. And I'm still of the belief that we had tactics and personnel problems, not simply striker problems. ALL of our displaced strikers WILL score goals at their new clubs this season. When they do, let's have a discussion. Until then, keep in mind that this same Lukaku that slotted so seamlessly into other teams, never scored a goal in Chelsea blue. How do we explain that? 1 goal every 2 games in sub-Chelsea teams, but ZERO in 15 across all competitions?
solid7
Humza_96, You are confused. Jose sells players he doesn't need and buys players he needs. You can't just ignore 3 out of 4 of the signings of Costa, Matic, Fabregas & Luis - 4 probable regular starters. These are the players Jose has spent most of the money on. Drogba, Salah & Zouma have been brought in as squad players. Players like Cole, Mata, KDB, Lukaku & Luiz did not want to be squad players and wanted to leave.
CobhamBlue
First luke shaw and now lukaku! Well im glad im not a pro footballer. Being a true blue i just might have to play/ score against my all time love. Now that wouldnt do , would it?
trueblue44
Go with God Romelu...Chelsea are better off without him - as long as we shift Porres ;) somehow lol
JohnnyOz
I wonder why SDL is so happy. Is it becus CFC sold a good player and left a bad investment (Torres, cus to him he's better than Lukaku)? Does selling Lukaku prove to anyone that he's got poor footballing qualities? Just wondering! That u want a player out of the team and now he's sold doesn't change facts bro. Every team will be improved wit a kid like Lukaku in it and not downgraded. Anyways. I don't wanna argue cus the way ur jubilating goes to show certain facts about U. 1. That u are obsessed with lukaku. 2. U are addicted to arguing, so when u feel like what u are arguing abt goes ur way, it feels like orgasm to U. Cus for all I know, selling Lukaku shud be a relief for the long drama to most CFC fans, and not a tin of Joy. No matter how much he's been sold. Even wen D.Luis was sold, I won't call what I felt Joy. Guess it was a personal campaign for U to get Lukaku out. Now he's out, atleast we go rest for this site.
seanwillex
I saw the lad score a few goals when he came to Seattle back in '12 when Robbie was the coach - might have been one goal, not sure as I was in a drunken stupor! - but, sadly my hopes of him being a Chelsea great weren't realized. Sure, you can throw statistics around as our son f_v likes to do but, you can't quantify the most valuable trait of all - HEART!

The only problm with Chelsea transfer dealing is with the case of salah... never understand selling KDB and bringing in Salah. He is really ****. I would like to think Chelsea will be smart enough to get Balotelli and not player like Cavani (2nd Torres),or Lavezzi .
Tekszy Maloney
Mourinho: "Lukaku wasn't highly motivated to come to a competitive situation. He wanted to play for #Chelsea, but only as 1st choice striker Says a lot about his mentality...Good riddance me thinks.

By the way jose's quote ends at the "as 1st choice striker" the rest is all me.

Chelsea need just 1 more tweak and that will be getting rid of Torres . Through preseason games so far , i think maybe Mikel could still have a role at chelsea as Romue doesnt look very comfortable on the ball although he doesnt look to pass back every now n then.

@seanwillex - "Every team will be improved wit a kid like Lukaku in it and not downgraded." --- Seriously? Have you HONESTLY ever played a team sport? If so, what is your justification for that statement? Lukaku has been one of the most disruptive personalities in YEARS for this club. Not understanding your point of view! @humza: i dnt understand ur analysis. Chelsea has done superbly well in d transfer window dis summer. The players we bought have been a massive upgrade to the ones we sold. As for d case of lukaku, am gutted he left bt wot do you expect d club to do? Promise him he's surely gonna be d 1st striker nd den not buy costa? Den we re gonna have lukaku, torres nd drogba? I hate seeing torres in our shirt bt i think costa, torres, drogba is beta than lukaku, torres, drogba

I thought Lukaku was special but after watching him last year I saw inconsistencies. 2 good games 1 game where he didn't show up…its like he plays well when he's motivated but then takes games off. He was really really poor at the world cup…***** poor..I am disappointed because I thought he had more internal fortitude. He just wants everything handed to him.. Now he's going to rot at Everton and never win anything..He will be an above average player for them but never win anything. Now I am glad he's moved on…I don't want his example set for all the other young players to see. CFC were right to sell him…after watching him at the world cup I am glad he's moved on. Not motivated almost lazy with a sense of self entitlement.
lamarochs
sky sports say 28 million plus addons so if anything we have sold him for the price of costa and i have to say amazing business from us for a player who had just less than 2 years left in his contract. i will see him as a coward though. if he cant displace a destoryed torres/an old drogba and an injury prone costa then he is better far away from us. this clearly means we are back in the market for either a striker/support striker kinda like schurrle as such. or at the VERY least a player in general. but we have did some amazing trading it has to be said :)
guitarguy656
cant wait for mid season if Costa gets injured.. and you lot are moaning wondering where the goals are coming from.. Lukaku = Sturridge II

http://thepremierleagueowl.com/why-romelu-lukaku-is-being-sold-by-chelsea/. A well written article on why Lukaku was sent away and why the price was a win by Chelsea.
rockhead
Some of you have so far overrated this donkey. When Lukaku is banging in 20+ goals per season after the opposition figures him out, and starts tightening up the spaces, let's talk again. Lukaku is ONLY good in wide open spaces. (the World Cup exemplifies what Lukaku would have looked like in our Chelsea squad - what he DID look like) He's NOT skilled at unlocking defenses. That being said, I was super impressed with Costa. I pretty much thought he was over-hyped. But after watching him, all I can say is, Oh, man... This guy is dangerous. Yes, it's a worry only having one of him. But Lukaku was never going to be that kind of striker. Costa is complete, for sure. Unselfish, but still with an eye for goal. Super quick, intelligent, and hungry. And if you were all paying attention, I think you will have seen that there is a 2 striker system in works... Costa is the lead, and I believe Torres will be the second striker. And I think it will be a good role for him. Just a hunch.
solid7
It is really disappointing. A club like Everto spend 28 mil and its not even a gamble for them. For all of Lukaku's moaning, what he wanted was at least a back up role and we cant even afford a youngster a squad role. What is the use of hoarding talent like this ? Our youth players dont even get a sniff of a chance during the entire season even in small games. With this trend, In 2-3 seasons we wont have a single Homegrown player who is in the squad because of merit rather than by the squad rules.

Meanwhile, the misunderstood prodigy took time to also drop a hint that his immediate future lies in SW6 when he changed his Twitter biography to say he was a Chelsea player, which previously had no mention of Chelsea Football Club therein. So that is simply that.

Willian, Salah and Torres or Mata, De Bruyne and Lukaku?

lukaku has 2 years left on his contract.bought around 16 mill and sold for 28.5 mill ,so i think it was good move. he only want 1st choice striker which is not possible in chelsea . everton bought 2 years contract and rest pays for lukaku.it very good business. chelsea can develop solenke and patrick now , lukaku is past.
psanket
Good on Lukaku to not have commitment to sit on the bench and be payed just for that.

@BlueMIA answer me one question ..how many millions is it going to take to buy him back when Costa gets injured and Tores still cant score??? where are the goals coming from when Costa injured? Where ?
Blue_Mel
dont tell me...its going to be the defenders scoring while Mourinho parks the bus and then counters .. same old boring defensive football that Roman hates
Blue_Mel
(how many millions is it going to take to buy him back when Costa gets injured and Tores still cant score???) Chuckles. You think Jose will ever Contemplate buying him back? He would rather spend money getting another striker with a better attitude and team spirit.
StamfordDLion
Blue_Mel: You are looking way into the future and trying to predict the future. What's with all the Doom and Gloom talk? Who knows . . . Costa will stay relatively injury free throughout out new campaign/Torres will bang in some goals/Drogba will bang in some goals/ Don't forget about our Attacking Midfielders: Hazard, Cesc, Willian, Andre, Oscar - One can't bet against them not scoring a goal or two. Lighten Up :) Chuckles.
StamfordDLion
(dont tell me...its going to be the defenders scoring while Mourinho parks the bus and then counters .. same old boring defensive football that Roman hates) I wouldn't bet against our Defenders scoring when we win corners and free kicks. Iva, Cahill, Terry are exceptional in the air and generally win aerial battles. Our goal scoring Defenders are our "Assets"

Judge Lukaku on his proven PL experience at the age of 21.
foreign_viewer
we need BONY, bony got exactly what we needed.. He will compete and become our first choice in the future.. we will not regret the sale of Lukaku if we buy a replacement
Sathish Lakshmanan
Time to move on, Lukaku is now an Everton player, no need for back and forth unnecessary arguments. What we feel here is irrelevant to him, and the boy is probably somewhere now having fun. As long as Lukaku is happy with the move, whether he will ever worth 50M or not is irrelevant...This should at least bring the daily Lukaku arguments to an end.
Latunvic
Costa will hand in a bunch of sick notes next season just like he did at Atletico. Any player who loves the bench has no ambition. Big clubs are hoarding all the talent. All those Chelsea players in the academy and on loan could be stars for smaller teams.

FIRST CHAPTER IN 2012 "I didn't deserve it. I would find it difficult to accept the medal. Maybe it's something for next year," Lukaku said to Het Nieuwsblad. "After we won we kept smiling and dancing in the dressing room. Didier gave a speech. It was more beautiful than the title with Anderlecht." - Romelu Lukaku "I've not even touched the cup. I don't deserve it because I was not on the list. I don't touch anything I don't deserve. "That's why I also didn't touch the FA Cup. After we won we kept smiling and dancing in the dressing room. Didier [Drogba] gave a speech. It was more beautiful than the title with Anderlecht." "I don't like people talking to me about the Champions League. It wasn't me, but my team that won," he said. "When [Salomon] Kalou put the cup on my lap in the bus I asked him to take it away immediately. I didn't want to touch it because just as with the Champions League I had no part in it at all," he told De Standaard newspaper. "Chelsea really wanted me last summer and paid a lot for me but after a while I thought, are you just throwing money around?" Lukaku, who is yet to score for the Blues, will seek talks with the new Chelsea boss before deciding on his future. "During the conversation with the manager I will see whether he's serious about me or not. If not, I will go away on loan. I have to play," he added. WE WON'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH SUCH ***** AGAIN FROM MR COMPLETE
BOTUM
wow, @FV, you wanted to judge Lukaku on his PL experience and Costa on WC performance...talk about bias.
Blu_run
@fv what about atletico and everton? Costa won la liga and a finalist ucl then lukaku won the best talkative player i have ever seen
the_blues
Mourinho on lukaku sale:"The thinking was first of all the fact that Romelu was always very clear with us that in his mentality and his approach he was not highly motivated to come to a competitive situation at Chelsea. 'He wanted to play for Chelsea but clearly as the first choice striker which in club of our dimension very difficult to promise to a player that status. That reduced, immediately, his desire to come to us. 'After that Everton came with an important offer and as I always say, because it's the reality of our club and we want to do things well and be inside the FFP rules, it's always in the thoughts of the board, when you have the chance to make some movement that create positive impact on FFP we always analyse these situations.' Mourinho wanted to emphasise there were no hard feelings in the sale of Lukaku: 'The important thing is that he's happy and things work well for him, he's a good kid and has his way of thinking and organising his career project. 'All I can do is wish him well. He deserves luck and to be happy.'
Krested Kal-el
What's more to say?......people always looking for way to talk bad about José/board at any given chance without even bothering to look at facts/read between the lines.....at Everton he could be the starter he craves for but at Chelsea he'd have to earn it......Chelsea is not everton! If anyone wants to see lukaku so bad he/she should start watching Everton and hush the hell up.Tired of hearing he's still 21,he'd be the next ibrahimovic,He'd be worth £100mil in a couple of years......Bla Bla Bla Bla! Wishing him the best tho.
Krested Kal-el
@ktm.... Dont get it twsited man.... Lukaku didnt want a squad role. He wanted to be NO. 1!
Tunez
There is an absolute media w***fest going on this morning about the wonderful transfer window Everton have had and what a dreadful decision Chelsea have made. Firstly, the media tell us Everton have signed Barry, Barclay & Lukaku - all players who played for them last season i.e. they have NOT strengthened at all! Chelsea meanwhile are lambasted for replacing Lukaku with Drogba. But Mourinho made it clear Lukaku only wanted to stay as Chelsea's No. 1 centre forward. Chelsea have not replaced Lukaku with Drogba, they have replaced Lukaku with Diego Costa - a massive upgrade - but something the media conveniently ignore. Drogba has replaced Eto'o. I sometimes think it is compulsory to be STUPID to be an English football journalist.
CobhamBlue
Thank God this debacle is over. All we have to put up with now is when Lukaku scores an Everton goal and we have supposed Chelsea fans whooping it up. Whoopi-di-doo indeed!!!
BlueABS
Either STUPID Cobham, or hating CFC as a prerequisite
BlueABS
2x POTY Mata hardly gets spoken about here, let's hope the same goes for Lukaku by October.
BlueABS
I started having my doubts over Lukaku after we won the Champions League for the first time in our history, while everyone was jubiliating, all he said was how unhappy he was simply because he did not play a part in the final. He is a good average striker no doubt but he is always ahead of himself. He claimed supporting Chelsea but was always quick in getting back at Chelsea at the slightest chance (just like last season when he was quoted as wishing Everton would beat Chelsea). I wish him luck but will advice him to talk less and show all he can do on the field of play. In my opinion it was a good deal by Chelsea given that he refused to extend his contract and has about 2 years left.
KLblue
Can we moce on now? Lukaku is gone already,i don't know who sells a 21 year old and keeps a poor 29years old player...even when Madrid sold morata they were wise enough to include a buy back option,i am sure we didn't include such clause...the lukaku sale will only become stupid if we keep torres and drogba as backup to costa..drogba can be nothing more as 3rd choice then having torres as second choice is suicidal,i hope we go into the market again to get a young technical striker with great potential....
Hazard11
*move
Hazard11
@Hazard11, I think you are wrong about your statement. Firstly, noone wants to buy Torres and Lukaku wanted to go. Even, if we forced him to stay for another year, he refused/wouldn't want to extend his contract and we would get have the price Everton has paid us now for him. I am also saddend by his departure, because I agree with what saber wrote about him in his articel. Though, with the cards on the table, it is a good deal for all of the three sides.
icebluelg
Compared to last season, we have massively improved our squad. New players in the squad are: Fabregas, Costa, Luis, Drogba, Zouma, Cuortois, Romeu and van Ginkel and we only sold bench players (except when Luiz played in midfield). We bought players for normal prices and sold for very good prices. We have done very good bussines. Fantasy football would be, if we could sell Mikel and Torres too, and bought Falcao and Pogba. Though, I am afraid that we won't do any more bussines this summer.
icebluelg
I am not overly depressed or angry about lukaku's sale but where it will make no sense to me is if we don't replace him in our squad effectively..some people think torres still has a lot to offer,it saddens me to say this (as a torres fanboy) torres has nothing to offer to CFC,it will be best if he moves on but nobody wants to pay 20m pounds and his wages,i think we have made enough profit and lower our valuation for him,so it will be easier for him, other clubs and us..then we get someone between 20-23 with so much potential and quality not the cavani's/falcao's
Hazard11
drogba is a backup for costa n not lukaku kid ... coz drogba is better in aerial duels ... chelsea need a player who can be good on the ground n aerial also ... bony is not good at aerial duels we should get someone else it feels ... jose must be keen on someone as a backup n not trust torres .... and to few of those talking about salah plz cut the bs hes young and fast his runs will surely help chelsea in counter attacks .... the kids defending also seems improved during the vitesse game ....and that free kick and matic pass clearly showed that hazard salah willian schurrle costa gonna run riot in the flanks n counters ...
gary777
@Hazard11, I agree. We need a second choice striker. At the moment Schurrle is second, Drogba is third and Torres is fourth. For me Torres cannot bring anything to this team as the only CF in the line up, perhaps in a 4-4-2 or, if he plays deeper or wider, but not as an the only CF. But as I wish, that cfc can sell him, I am afraid he will stay until his contract expires. The scary thing is, one more international player still has to leave. Who is it going to be, if we cannot sell either Mikel or Torres?
icebluelg
mikel gonna leave .........mvg is going on loan with romeu may b as a backup ( viceversa)
gary777
@Stamford "Hazard, Cesc, Willian, Andre, Oscar - One can't bet against them not scoring a goal or two." Chuckles lad...other than Cesc arent these the scorers we had this last season and failed to win the title and got beat by the likes who??? West Ham? or was it West Brom? Chuckles
Blue_Mel
Blue_Mel, Chelsea never lost to either West Ham or West Brom last season.
CobhamBlue
I predict Salah to be a beast 2nd part of the season.
FS
I still have nt gotten blue mel's point. I ll ask again. Lukaku wanted to be d 1st choice. Are you saying we should nt have bought costa nd give lukaku what he wanted? Would you rather like to see lukaku as our number one striker instead of costa? Note: he only wanted to be the 1st choice....
Demmyblues
All u Lukaku haters and u know urselfs. Guess its time to shut up, and maybe pick on another player to hate. Cc: SDL. (Just saying exactly wat u said tho I know ur a crybaby like Barca players, u might run to papa Merlin, complaining of insults).

Blue_Mel and what will you do if Lukaku gets injured and there is no Costa what then? What if Lukaku is not producing for Chelsea the what? He played quite a decent amount of games for us pre season and beginning of season before loan. Never showed anything for CFC and showed us he is 1 dimensional. Your go what then?
BlueMIA
Let's get Demba Ba he is a proven PL goal scorer and scores at New Castle for fun. If he plays like that at New Castle then imagine.... oh wait.
BlueMIA
You run away from every thread and shy away from one question. Yo complain about situation now but you do know if Lukaku stayed that would have meant Lukaku, Torres, Drogba. Is that what you prefer please don't judge the question this time, it was either Lukaku's way in being 1st or nothing so what do you purpose? ??

Sturridge couldn't get a start as the main striker and he was "not good enough" for Chelsea. He went to Liverpool, scored more goals than all Chelsea players, finished above Chelsea with Liverpool.
foreign_viewer
Who said Sturridge wasn't good enough?
BlueMIA
Demba Ba spent most of his time at Chelsea on the bench. He lost his Newcastle form. That's what sitting on the bench does. Kalou is another example of a player ruined by lack of game time.

Didn't these bunch of guys beat the likes of PSG, United, City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Pool? So these guys didn't win the PL and came third and reached the semis of the CL . . . that doesn't mean that they didn't score goals. What's your argument? Don't need to get all emotional and skewed with your reasoning, logic just because one of your favourite players got sold.

Didn't I ever claim in my post that they won the Champions League or PL? Read my post again! I said that one can not bet against them not scoring goals. Go and check their goal scoring stats from last season. All of them scored goals like I have claimed and stated in my post. You seem like you are having a meltdown.

i think we have blind mentality funs here, who will do all possible not to blame Mou.A manager who sold mata kdb luiz robben calejoen lukaku and we yet to sell hazard oscar also schurller is at stake, and we bring drogba fabrigas and miranda;is this manager for the future really.Mou has just confermed my fears that non chelsea youth will ever play at cfc if mou is the manager. Also shows how dump our cfc board is buying all Mous mind games and archiving nothing.Again i repeate that it was a mistake hiring Mou to this club ,which till now it has no playing identity making big players career end and board cant see.
