Courtois Prepares for Life at Chelsea

When Chelsea takes on Werder Bremen this Sunday, we`re likely to get our first glimpse of Thibaut Courtois in a Chelsea shirt.

Having spent three years on loan at Atletico Madrid, Courtois is now back with us and keen to grab the green keepers` jersey for himself.

Rumours persist that may be the case with Chelsea having to ship out one of the many international classified players.

Talking to the media, Courtois has spoken about Cech and having his first training session at a club he signed for some three years ago, remarking,

"Petr has had a really nice 10 years here. He`s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. You can learn a lot from every keeper you train with."

"Every goalkeeper can have a type of thing they are usually good at so when you see them train you can learn from him and other keepers, too. It helps you during your training."

"I signed with Chelsea three years ago but because of the loan it took until Thursday to have my first training session, so I`m really happy to be here."

However, having now taken up base with Chelsea, Courtois is amongst a couple of familiar faces with Filipe Luis and Diego Costa having joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid this summer, something that has made settling in easier, with Courtois further adding,

"It`s nice when you arrive to know that you`re not alone. I remember my first day at Atletico where I didn`t know anybody and it was a little weird."

"When you have team-mates who have already been here for over a week they can help you. It`s nice to find friends; they were like that with me at Atletico so it`s good that they`re here."

And as for having spent three years away, Courtois commented,

"I gained a lot of experience playing some important games. In every aspect of being a goalkeeper I improved. As a young keeper you can learn in every training session. I learned a lot."

Is the situation facing us the same as when Cech came along to replace Cudicini?

Is lightning set to strike twice?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

personally i would go with the youngster. He seems to dominate his space much better than Cech. That alone is worth 5 goals. Cech has done well but he makes the same mistakes over and over again and really has lost his bottle. Either of them would be the top keeper in the BPL

Of course there are some things that can't be said in public-like Jose promised me a number one spot-but listening to the interview was music to my ears. Hopes he now signs a new contract or extend his existing one.

From all indications, I think He's gonna be the number 1 for the GK spot....

From the moment he went to say goodbye to his former teammates in spain, I knew Jose has made his decision. He is an arrogant lad, I was one of his critics during the season ending, when he was disrespecting cech and holding chelsea to ransom! But now that is squad, he deserves the number spot on merit, he is simply now better than cech and the best players should in the 11. Cech would understand, we love him dearly, he is our greatest goalkeeper and whatever he decides(leave or play backup), we would understand and support him! Gracias Petr Cech!! A good man he is!!

All good things come to an end. Life is a cycle. Courtios time I reckon. In all honesty, I want Cech to stay and push Courtois all the way. Courtois seems a Notch better than Cech at the moment.

Cech has been superb in preseason but Courtois is the long term future.

tc is da real deal, cech is da legend but the future is of more importance than now.

Just tell them they alternate every game and if one of them makes a mistake the other gets to start the following match too. End of season stats - 0 goals conceded in all competitions.Seriously, though,it is possible for both of them to stay.A successful season is long about 60-70 games.Give each of them 30 and I am absolutely convinced they will both agree. It is a huge luxury to have 2 world class keepers in your squad but I think it is one we can afford.
