'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mourinho - Terry Deserved New Contract!

The old guard, at Stamford Bridge, may be diminishing but there`ll still be one familiar face urging the team on - John Terry.

Awarded a one year contract, the 33 year-old is expected to partner Gary Cahill at the heart of the Chelsea defence and Jose Mourinho is hoping that he can reproduce the kind of form he showed last season.

The kind of form that saw Chelsea Football Club, urged by Jose Mourinho, to give John another contract or as Jose puts it,

"John had the sort of season where I can`t remember him having a better one. He basically played every match at a high level and when you have a player able to perform during the whole season, you believe he can do the same."

"So the contract he got is based on performance. Not on status or captaincy or anything like that."

Exactly and here at Vital Chelsea we still reckon that John is amongst the best, if not the best centre backs in the Premier League.

He did well and deservedly earned himself a contract extension. He will know that he must be at the top of his game this season too if he has to still stay around. The same case applies to Cahill and Cesar.
