Mikel IS Staying!

Mikel IS Staying!

Earlier this summer it was touted around that our Nigerian international, Mikel, was being touted around Europe.

It was even suggested that he`d be available for a cut-price fee of £5 million.

However, the club has moved quickly to dispel any such rumours with it being confirmed, by a source close to the player that the Nigerian is staying with the source remarking,

"Although Mikel is not first choice, he`s the first person Jose turns to when he wants a particular job done."

"The manager knows he can just slot him in there and he`ll do a great job."

"Jose has told Mikel he is still part of his plans for next season."

There`s also the fact that Mikel, come October, will be deemed a British citizen to take into the equation.

No club wants him. So he stays with us. So sad too bad.

What did you guys expect? He's staying here and probably will outlast the likes of Oscar-just saying. I am not his fan but i know the guy gives his all when called upon. So be it. The gaffer knows best.

Mikel deserves to stay and whenever he leaves I will assign him legendary status. He is a specialist in carrying out specific tasks which speaks to his control and discipline. These qualities are rare and among the fans on this site unwanted/unappreciated. I know you are awesome Mikel and so do your detractors. I however will give you credit where you deserve it. All the best for the new season and stay awesome.

I really am losing faith in Jose. Why are Chelsea the only club in the world where you have to be at least 24 years old to play. He's got no bottle and dogbane and Torres are about inspiring as Mikel and Ramires. Mikel is a slug and the whole match goes flat whenever he gets the ball. He cannot control himself and I would gladly pay his airfare to see him go anywhere. CHELSEA need to encourage youth? I reckon if we paid a shed for another striker like Falcao we'd send him out on loan. I would never sign for Chelsea if I was under the age of 24. By the way, we were crap this afternoon.

I'v got no problem with him staying as long as he does a good job as back up for matic
03/08/2014 19:24:00
Courtois, Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle, Salah, Zouma, Ake, MVG are all 24 and above. Even Mikel, Cech, Essien etc started playing for Chelsea at 24.
03/08/2014 19:25:00
So please identify which of these was a Jose purchase. Salah was a Wenger like panic buy and zouma was not his choice. Why are we trying to buy Miranda ?

Mikel, Ramires, Torres... In the same squad of 17. This can only happen at chelsea!

First off, mikel is a useful plug. I was extremely pleased that he was finally used at cb (late in the game). He can dk that job and his lack of creativity isnt an jssue in that position. His simple passing game is spot on. He's solid and doesnt dive in anymore. Hes excellent at breaking up play when in the holdong spot. No, he shouldnt start. But hes a quality sub. Not a lot of players with his talent and experience would except that role. I think he could be similar to john oshea at utd. Sit on the bench and play in central defense or mid when needed. Too many fifa managers on here. You cant field 11 flair players peoe. As for ramires...again I find it insane how hes treated. He works his ass off, scores huge goals and is faster than all but a few. Jose rates him. He was always going to. I called mata being parked on the bench and ramires being one of our most used players. Spot on.

^ I was going to ask as to how he can play as a make shift CB.
03/08/2014 20:06:00
thats the problem with chelsea..we keep on selling good players and are stuck with useless like mikel torres and rami...

Mikel's fault Chelsea lost today. Doom and gloom. You can't be losing games like this. Jose has lost it. Sack him. Get that Borussia guy, he'll know what to do. OMG Jose keeps Torres and got Drogba and sold Lukaku and Mata and KdB. What is he thinking. Crazy man. No idea what he is doing. Abramovich has lost it. Sack him as well I say. Sack them ALLL!!! Install me as an owner, director of football manager and 1st name on the teamsheet as a striker as I am better than torres although I hate to train, have a meniscus problem and am lazy as fck but I sure as **** know how to run a club and all those players. Sack them all I say. I'll take a paycut from Torres, I'll tell Terry what to do and I'll teach Zouma a thing or two about movement. Diego Costa who? I'll slap him in first training and make him my bch. It's the end of the world. Oh wait, it's not. It was a training game in front of an audience.
03/08/2014 20:13:00
I think he was solid today. Being his first game in a while, i think he wasn't out of place. We need to keep him at this stage with one of romeu. #ktbffh

Botum and skrapidblue.... Those players you mentioned played before they were 24. And by the way, our youth players today looked great. They'll see regular action this season. So what was it that you were on about?
03/08/2014 20:22:00
And stop bringing up Lukaku... There is nothing that he could have added today. He is the same type - albeit lesser skilled - of player as the ones we fielded today. He would have looked just like he did in the WC...
03/08/2014 20:23:00
@solid7 you obviously don't get the sarcasm in @botum comment, he was reacting to @skrapidblue first comment

I'll be very happy if Mikel stays. He may not be the sort of player you need against Burnley or Aston Villa but he is the sort of player we need against Man City & Liverpool never mind Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. If I was Mikel, as long as I was getting plenty of game times (and he will) I would only leave Chelsea to sign for another Champions League heavy weight. As none of those top 5 or 6 teams in Europe want him he should not lower himself to sign for a Southampton or Lyon or Wolfsburg - he is far too good for that.
03/08/2014 23:04:00
Thank the gods john slowbi mikel is staying
04/08/2014 00:50:00
Yeah, I was reading through a little quickly. Good on him for pointing it out. It's the height of ignorance to suggest that we have no youth in our squad.
