Ferencvaros 1 Chelsea 2
Last night, over in Budapest, Chelsea played their last pre-season friendly on foreign soil.
Taking on the Hungarian side, Ferencvaros, to celebrate the opening of their new stadium, the game gave Jose Mourinho the perfect opportunity to give his squad another run-out ahead of the season opener against Burnley, a week tonight.
Unfortunately, the fixture was to see Didier Drogba limp away from the action after turning an ankle very early on.
Chelsea fell behind, in the fixture, when the former Fulham and West Bromwich Albion player Zoltan Gera scored from close range after slipping away from Cesar Azpilicueta.
Our hosts remained in the lead until just past the hour mark when Ramires scored with a superb half volley.
With the usual raft of substitutions slowing the flow of the game down, it looked as if it would fizzle out into a tame draw until Cesc Fabregas picked the ball up, dribbled past three opposition defenders before coolly slotting home.
Next up for Chelsea, as the 2014 / 2015 season draws ever closer, is a friendly against the Spanish outfit Real Sociedad.
