Costa IS the Man!

Costa IS the Man!

We`re only two games into the new Premier League season and we all recognize that there is a long way to go before the destination of the title is known.

At this stage of the season the key factors to be acknowledged relate to how your new signings are settling in and are performing.

Having spent some £32 million on Diego Costa, we all hoped the Brazilian born Spaniard would provide the goals that a title campaign can be launched on.

Well, with two games gone Costa has netted twice, something that suggests he could fulfil our desires to have a striker that can, once again, challenge for the Golden Boot.

The fact that those two goals have come from his only two shots on target suggest Costa has a predators instinct, with both goals being scored from close range.

After the 2-0 win over Leicester City, Jose Mourinho was quick to offer the media a few words on his acquisition, remarking,

"I got the feeling in pre-season that his adaption would not be a big deal, he is a happy guy."

"He doesn`t speak good English but he has great communication and has made a good integration into the team. His style of play is adapted to our needs."

"He`s a striker and strikers need goals. He can play better than he did today. It`s the same as the team."

"He scored and it was a critical moment for us."

"We were in the moment where we were getting stronger and it looked like Leicester were in trouble."

"But it`s important that you have the striker who goes there and puts the ball in the net."

It certainly is and Diego Costa is already making headway towards becoming recognised as the striker we yearned for last season.

It's not just the goals that is impressive it's actually having a focal point to our play, players behind him knowing if they pass the ball up to him he can hold it up move defenders about and his runs are fantastic! Also how he finds himself space inside the area is phenomenal! He did it twice yesterday and one of the times was the goal. It was a great goal also. The control of his chest was no fluke he knew he was taking the pace of the cross just enough to move it away from the defender and just into the right space to leather it towards the goal! This boy smells goals. He is going to be very important. Let's hope he stays fit. He stays fit we can win the league. He gets injured at the moment with the other strikers we don't.

Even if he stays fit, there will be a point when he will be off form, suarez went 10 games without scoring last season,RVP went about almost the same number without scoring the season before, even costa went almost 2 n half months in Spain last season scoring about 2-3 league goals..what will happen to us in this period if costa doesn't injure throughout the season and he looses form at some point??I think we will need Hazard to deliver then...Hazard will be crucial to us winning the title as costa will be

Theres going to be alot of anti Costa attention on pitch which means hes going to be injured or suspended at some time. Which means we only have Torres and Drogs to fall back on. WE know the problems there so why doesnt Jose. Im thinking that Jose isnt the one with the transfer decisions. I think its sporting director Emenalo that tells Roman who to buy. Well I hope he tells him to buy us another striker cause when/if Costa goes out of form or off the pitch we are going to be up the swanee again.

@Hazard11 - Hazard, Schurrle, Oscar and even Fabregas are all goal scorers as well. When our strike force was abysmal last season it was still these guys (less Fab) who carried the burden of winning and scoring, so that element is still there. Costa is also being preserved as he was substituted in both games with Drogba coming on. That's a great thing as well. If however Costa suffers an injury I believe Torres will be nr.1 and Drogba will still deputize more than play from the start.

Many more goals to come hopefully from Costa. It's a good start. We also need to get the ball to him more often around the box.

thanks francesca for pointing out that element to them. This team is impregnated with goals in every department and they will help costa like they have been assisting FT9. He is definitely the man and i am taking so much liking to him. DC19... how i love to chant the alphabets and number :)

Sky reported that Man City had 4 players that scored over 20 goals last season. We are hoping that Costa does that, but I`m not too sure where the other 60 are going to come from. We are a quality goal scorer short, so all we can hope is that Costa stays fit for the whole season, otherwise we could well come up short again. Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd all have better forward lines than us.

His fighting spirit is what differentiates Him from Torres; You can't break His confidence, his spirit...

We finally have a worthy succesor to the Drogba throne. We should only be looking out for a younger (but proven)striker for next season and work on retaining Bamford as third choice... And we are set for the next 10 years in the striking department

I wonder where are all the Costa Bashers . . . Remember how some folks were questioning his ability just because he had a bad world cup where he was arguably unfit (coming from an injury) I remember some of them saying that Lukaku is EPL Proven, etc. Where are you?
