Did Chelsea Lose Out on Benatia

That is if our interest was genuine and not media driven!

Any chance Chelsea had of bringing the AS Roma defender, Medhi Benatia, to Stamford Bridge has been ended.

Confirmation has come through that the Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich, have secured his services on a five year deal.

The signing of the deal for the 27 year-old Moroccan international ends the hopes of not only ourselves but also the other heavyweights of the Premier League in the shape of Manchester United and Manchester City.

As they say, some you win and some you lose!

I don't think we were ever going to go for him,i will say we are a bit okay in the defence...we should try find a way to streghten the CF position and maybe the midfield if possible...

We were never in for him to begin with, all media created nonsense. But he is a good signing by Bayern.

We didn't loose out. We were never going to buy a centre back at all. In fact this is more of Roma or Bayern's thread.

Thanks for inserting 'Did' in the title up there. It's more Chelsea article now.

you don't loose what you don't have. Mou clearly rubbished the rumour that surrounded his transfer. I for one don't think we missed out on nada.
kolagold25
Its just the paper talk on linking Benatia to us. We would have never tracked him for that price. We are well stocked in the CD departments for next 5-6 years.
Blu_run
Jose would have gone for Varane for that money.
Blu_run
we have some of the best young defenders in the world (Omeruo, Kalas, Zouma) and our senior defenders ain't that old; Terry-32, Iva-30, Cahill-28. What we need is defender in His mid twenties and at a cheap price at that to take the pressure off Terry next season. Benatia is 27 and the fee is too much for such a defender from the seria A...
