Let us Pray

Let us Pray

I am not usually a religious person but today I am praying to St Luke, the Patron Saint of Doctors, that he intercedes and ensures that FT9 passes his medical.

And may he also bless Loic Remy so that his medical goes smoothly too and we acquire a striker who actually scores goals.

Finally I believe there is a shrine of The Immaculate Conception at San Fernando (Los Angeles, I assume?), any Blues fans nearby please visit and make an offering.

30/08/2014 09:36:00
I prey Torres passes his medical, yes. But why Remy, Bamford was rigght theree, Bony is surely available. Even go abroad. Not sure what it was, but i read something that made me not too sure on Remy.

can u tell us then?@SmokezDoT
30/08/2014 09:52:00
Remy will join Chelsea in a matter of hours and Torres doesn't have a bad injury history in recent times. Nothing to worry about.

When he had a medical at Marseilles in 2010 heart specialists found something but "could find no reason to prevent him practicing sport at a high level", so they clearly picked up the same thing as Liverpool's doctor found during his recent aborted move there. It seems to me to be a manageable condition, as evidenced by his stats in the interim. Some of us older fans will recall Asa Hartford to Leeds, then England's top club, being called off but the lad went on to have a good career at Man City. I too have lived with a heart condition for 17 years, when you know about it, you manage it. It's the ones who don't know they have something wrong who keel over, out of the blue as it where

It's the medical at Liverpool that got me worried but then again Ba didn't have that many injuries with us so if our medical team can handle it then he should be okay.
30/08/2014 10:22:00
Not worried at all
30/08/2014 10:37:00
as a doctor i can say all heart conditions dont prevent you from playing sport at the highest level. it depends ultimately on what the specifics are. chelsea's medical team are more than competent to give us a clear verdict

Hope all blues fans have a great day!! #upthechels
30/08/2014 11:14:00
There's no need to be hopeful here; if he passes his medical then he's honourably welcomed but if not, we don't want him around here then. There is no point keeping a proven goalscorer whose heart is fragile and we do not want any blood on our hands.
30/08/2014 12:01:00
it seems remy is coming ....
30/08/2014 12:31:00
I think we will get Destro and Remy both....... seems like Jose just can't risk this season's title.....
The Persian

@Persian, Destro and Remy will give us headache in meeting the 17 foreign players required to be registered. One of them will definately come though...
30/08/2014 14:04:00
Torres going off our head is like a dream for me. God will Bless AC Milan, they took Essien off our hands and now Torres and maybe Mikel next summer...

Saber from what i hear Loic remy has a "hole" in his heart. My understanding from a past life in medical work is that most of these are not at all incompatible with regular athletic activity unless there is more to it than just the hole ( like added rythm problems and or heart enlargement) and depending on how large the hole is. What worries me is that Liverpools docs felt this was too great a risk and then sought a second opinion and reportedlly the second opinion (apparently physicians outside of the Liverpool system) concurred. This makes me seriously wonder what else they may have found beyond what was originially found at Marseielles. There is a reason why despite being so productive last season the guy is still languisihing at QPR..even NewCastle who he did so well for last season havent taken him up. It is true he has thus far had no issues in his athletic career but we all know it only takes only one event for disaster to strike..Muamba and Morisini didnt even know they had a heart problems and had been pro footie players for years before the unfortunate events that happened to them. I just feel very jittery about taking on a player who failed a physical with a top level BPL side for cardiac reasons whatever his ability just because he is available and "cheap". If we do this Eva and her team will have to be watching this guy like a hawk and maybe that is why as The persian indicates it appears we are still pursuing Destro...muscle, ligament and joint issues are realtively easy to manage by excellent physios and Docs like Eva and her team but with the heart one never really knows for sure once there is a clear anatomic problem found.

Good read:

The above article talks about why LFC did not take Remy. Take into consideration that the heart issue has been out in the open since 2010. I would assume that potential teams would ask about that before hand. Link to his heart issue:
