Replacing Torres?

Replacing Torres?

With Fernando Torres being an AC Milan player, as long as the medical goes well, Jose Mourinho knows only too well that our options in the striking department are now at a level that leaves us woefully under-manned.

Last night the rumours suggested that Chelsea were trying to bring Loic Remy to Stamford Bridge, from Queens Park Rangers. However, this morning it is being reported sources close To Remy are distancing themselves from such a move.

However, what is almost certain is that Jose Mourinho will ensure a striker is brought in with the boss remarking to the media,

"If we have to make a deal in the next 24 hours, then we will try."

"We`ll react by buying a foreign striker because I don`t see and English striker that would come to us, or whose club would let him come, we need another one."

If Remy isn`t the one will Chelsea go back in for Mattia Destro?

What are your thoughts on the subject matter?

Good signing for the money. Would have liked a higher profile signing but Remy is used to PL. He should definitely be second choice though. Drogba third choice for me - not good enough except last 10/20 mins. I don't understand this love in with Drogba. Yes he WAS a legend but so was Lampard and he's gone! Unless he can prove me wrong I don't want him starting a game. Jose will realise he has dropped a clanger for sure!

Yeah, remy is the one most likely to come in,he will be worth the risk as a second choice striker for about 8m pounds...I don't think he will do any worse than torres, great summer transfer business...I had lost hope that torres was gonna leave people like Stamford said it wasn't possible,i didn't believe until skysports reported that he was in talks with milan...it was sad to see him leave but I'm happy he is going to begin a new chapter,am sure if we'd see someone to take "Mr x" from our hands then we will get a good back up for matic..which ever way,we have done great business this window..

Remy is one of the best available options, if our management can put some more efforts we can bring Bony who will be a best signing for and will provide stiff competition with d.costa.. remy deal is 90% done it seems..

It seems remy is coming in, but personally I would have preferred BONY, he is by far better than remy, its very hard to shake him off the ball, a good target man and very clinical.

i think the reason remy is coming in because as a striker he is different from what we have in terms of profile. in costa we have a striker for all occassions. drogba is the plan B as a target man. so your second plan B has to be a poacher like destro or a speedster like remy.

make no mistake i like bony a lot. but in a tactical world your 3 strikers should ideally have 3 different profiles as players

Remy is good enough as a second striker for us, yeah agreed @saber he is different to what we already have in terms of profile & other qualities, left for me to make that decision i 'll opt for Conor Wickham or Danny Welbeck or both. The latter may be available but not sure of the former, both are strong, pacy, hg, english, good finishers & could fill the void left by Cole & Lamps(hg quota) as well as reduce the pressure from the reds loving media &... remember the comment by fa chief Dyke when city were crown champions. Bony is also good but would leave for Afcon in January whether there 'll be injury crises in camp or not, & might not settle in for life here immeditely like others until perhaps next season. Destro i learnt Roma don't want to sell exept for insane ammount like Benatia, & news about his injury record is not encouraging at all. So for me Wickham or Welbeck or both, with them we need not to move on Salah or MVG on loan, so anyone?

@Jerry, Welbeck's name and 'a good finisher' should not be mentioned in the same sentence; do you know how many league goals He has for Manure? He works really hard though...
