Courtois - New Deal!

Courtois - New Deal!

I don`t think anyone I sunder any illusions as to who Jose Mourinho believes is his first choice keeper!

After making three consecutive starts, I think it`s fair to say that Thibaut Courtois is Jose`s preferred choice with the 22 year-old Belgian stopper set to become a mainstay of the starting eleven.

To that effect it is being reported that Chelsea are determined to tie down the keeper to a new long term deal and reports suggest that the new contract would see Courtois` pay rise form the reported £30,000 a week he`s on now to something in the region of £90,000 a week.

The gist of the articles I`ve been looking through infer that Chelsea are determined to tie the goalkeeper down and that it is sincerely hoped the new deal will be signed and in place by the end of the month.

We`ll endeavour to keep you abreast of the situation.

Perfect successor to the Legendary Cech

I wonder why it is taking too long for him to sign. This guy is not straight forward. I hope there's no blackmail around-about there.

We can't let Cech leave until Courtois signs a new 5 year contract.

90 kpw is too much, 60-70kpw would be better for now. If in two to three years time we need to still renew His contract, He might demand 120kpw and that is too much for a 25yr old goalkeeper as He could still ask for a pay rise subsequently...

Well it is imperative a new deal is signed sooner rather than later.

Chelsea are on the verge of announcing new long-term deals for Hazard, Courtois & Cahill. ( @ standardsport)

the gist about the whole show is that Thibaut and his agent''s plan backfired slightly when Cech refused to move from the bridge in the transfer window. I have always had this notion that he (thibaut) believed that Cech constituted a clear and present danger to his no 1 spot and that is why he and his agent instituted the press barrage about not coming back to seat on the bench or going out on another loan with assurances for the no 1 spot between the sticks. the plan worked, Cech was benched but Thibaut and his agents knew damn well that with Cech still around, they are not completely out of his shadow and it would only take one or two bad days for the tables to turn. I believed underneath all those ( I want Cech to stay stuff) thibaut said in the media, they fully expected Cech to call it quits and leave thus making him the undisputed no 1 goalkeeper ahead of Swharzer. However Cech stubbornly not leaving is now a cause for concern and i am sure they will seek assurances into whatever contract they sign for guarantees in the team. The club however is in perfect position having accede to his request and thus are pushing him to sign a new deal then they are have him tied down without any fear of his threats. Not that he is a bad goalkeeper or anything. infact i have confidience is in ability and he is clearly a better goalkeeper than Cech at the crosses.

If Cech doesn't get a game against Swansea in the league he never will. Three goals conceded against Everton isn't too impressive for any keeper playing behind a Chelsea defence.
04/09/2014 18:34:00
Hazard???? I thought he just signed an extension like sometime this year??? Poor decision if true.
04/09/2014 18:46:00
errrrr the Breeze, Cech did the same Vs. Stoke and Sunderland, so what's your point? *chuckles* (like my friend StamfordDLion would do)
04/09/2014 18:49:00
Pointless comment there the breeeze
04/09/2014 19:07:00
Is it the same way cech conceded 5 against arsenal, 4 against monaco, 3 against man u, stoke etc???? Your keeper is as good as your defense, our defenders were all over the place at everton, dropping courtois because he considered 3 against everton will be the dumbest thing ever, luckily you're not the coach.Lol
04/09/2014 19:19:00
Cech had a great preseason and deserves to come in as he's just as good.
04/09/2014 19:37:00
Thebreeze, you talk more like a spoilt kid. Where is your football brain? Those goals can score against any keeper. However, it will be very stupid and senseless to bench a good keeper whom everybody is praying to extend his contract.
04/09/2014 21:17:00
I don't think Cech agrees with you.
04/09/2014 23:47:00
@THEBREEZE - that was not really a Chelsea defense on display against Everton. Or don't you read the headlines? If you do, what was Mourinho's #1 complaint about that match? Was it the goalkeeping?
05/09/2014 00:07:00
@icebluelg - Sorry, Courtois isn't #1 in the world. That honor is held by Manuel Neuer. There are very few serious footbal fans that would dispute this. The man is in a league of his own.
05/09/2014 00:08:00
People saying 90k is to much, really need to look at other clubs and how much they pay their lower ranked keepers. In all honesty with the season(s) he has had i thought he was in the 100k bracket.
