Semi-Final Referee Named

Semi-Final Referee Named

This Saturday, the biggest two clubs in London go head-to-head in what has the potential to be an epic FA Cup semi-final clash.

With both clubs harbouring ambitions of winning the double, it will, without a doubt, be a keenly contested semi-final.

Taking charge, referee-wise, will be none other than Martin Atkinson.

You may recall the last time these two London giants met in an FA Cup semi-final, at Wembley, Chelsea brushed aside Spurs 5-1, moving on to beat Liverpool in 2012 final.

Whilst Chelsea supporters will inevitably suggest the semi-final game was a little one-sided, we`re sure our Spurs counter-parts will point out that Chelsea were awarded a dubious goal, a goal where Atkinson signalled the ball had gone over the line but TV replays confirmed it didn`t.

There`s very little chance of that being repeated this Saturday what with the introduction of goal-line technology.

However, before Chelsea supporters point out that having Atkinson in charge might be a good omen, perhaps we should point out that Martin Atkinson was in charge when Spurs ended our long run of consecutive wins earlier this season, at White Hart Lane, when Chelsea slipped to a 2-0 defeat.

KierzoSBC. The long run of wins was this season -13 in a row - and it ended a WHL. We all know the last two times Chelsea played Spurs at Wembley Chelsea won 5-1 in 2012 and 2-0 in 2015.

Why are you mentioning Wembley you nimrods? ...the article said "Martin Atkinson was in charge when Spurs ended our long run of consecutive wins at White Hart Lane earlier this season when Chelsea slipped to a 2-0 defeat"

There has since been some convenient commas added...and a bit of rewording since. Thanks for keeping me right though.

*slow clap*
