Chelsea - Cup Semi Defender Shock

Chelsea - Cup Semi Defender Shock

As Chelsea get set for an epic FA Cup semi-final, against Tottenham Hotspur, at Wembley this Saturday tea-time, some shock news has emerged.

It appears that Chelsea, according to the very well respected news source, the Telegraph will go head-to-head with Tottenham without a key member of the back-three Antonio Conte has implemented.

Our source, and several others, are reporting that Gary Cahill has been in hospital the last two nights suffering from a mystery illness.

According to our source, Cahill turned up for training feeling out of sorts, on Tuesday. His temperature rose rapidly and he was taken for medical treatment.

With Cahill not available, Antonio Conte has to decide who will replace him in the back-three, our associates at The Sun are of the opinion that the Italian could turn to 36-year-old John Terry just days after the Chelsea legend announced he will be leaving Chelsea Football Club when his current contract expires.

There are of course other options, Conte could turn to Kurt Zouma to play at the heart of the defence of, if he`s not cup-tied, this could be the opportunity for Nathan Ake to step into the limelight.

But, who would your choice be?

Please feel free to state your opinion in our comments facility.

Nathan Ake is the perfect replacement even ahead of Cahill himself. I noticed he played there better than that LWB role for us, & can nullify any threat by Kyle Walker both strength, pace & can pick a pass. The only problem is aerial threats but I still prefer him as he hardly gets beaten on most attacking moves as he can read, tackle as well as intercept intelligently. But it was Luiz that I expect to be out as I saw he wasn't looking fit & basically walking not running during the closing stages of the ManU game. Hoping Alonso & Moses are fit enough to start.....may be Costa & Matic be rested or start on the bench so Chalobah & Batsman to start; or go with the three (3) Amigos upfront. KTBFFH!!!

Zouma was rubbish against Manutd. If Alonso is ok to start at LB/ LWB then Ake should replace Cahill...

Courtosis - Azpi - Luiz - Terry - Moses - Kante - Fabregas - Ake - Pedro - Hazard - RLC. We need to rest Costa, Alonso for important league matches to come next week. Next 2 PL games are critical for us. Title can be decided in next week. FA cup importance is low compared to the PL title. We have lost 2 out of the last 4 matches, which makes me worry.

Conte worries me a bit on the squad 'Rotation'. Only if he had done some proper rotation of squad when we were having 13 point lead, we need not worry now when injuries/illness pop up during critical phase. Batman, Chalobah,RLC, Aina may lack severe match practise.

@Blu_run the only positive about your choice of Terry is experience & nothing else. Spurs have young, strong & pace forward & wingers or wingbacks which will be extremely difficult for him to play against. If Rashford can beat our current CB with that pace then imagine how could it be with Terry in Luiz role. You know how refs pick out anything about Terry......i foresee sending off following slight tackle on Kane, Son, Kyle or Ali. KTBFFH!!!
