Countdown to the new Season begins on Wednesday
The Premier League unveil next season`s fixture list this coming Wednesday, the 14th June. With a lot our players still on international duty, the break between the finish of last season and the start of next won`t be long. Chelsea begin next season with annual curtain raiser, the Charity Shield, against the Arse at Wembley on 6th August.
Before all that excitement begins though we head off to China for a game against...you guessed it…..the Arse again, in the Olympic Bird`s Nest Stadium in Beijing on 22nd July. 3 days later we move onto Singapore where we will face Bayern Munich. Our tour concludes a week before the Charity Shield game when we play Inter Milan again in Singapore. There may also be a couple of games in this country against teams yet to be announced.
Compared to some of our rivals` preseason schedules, ours is pretty tame. Man Utd play 5 games in the States, then 1 in Norway and 1 in Ireland and finish with a game in Macedonia against Real Madrid. Jose will be lapping that up. All in a 3 week period. Arsenal play 6 games in Australia, China, and at home, in their own special competition, the Emirates Cup - a competition that gives them a chance to win a trophy, other than the FA Cup. City head to the States for 3 games as do Tottenham. Liverpool play 6 games between Australia and Ireland.
You can see a full list of where the Premier League teams are going on Sky Sports it makes interesting reading especially when you look at Huddersfield, who prepare for their first Premier League campaign with fixtures against Accrington Stanley and Bury, no disrespect to those two teams, of course.
I think with Man Utd`s summer schedule I`ll take first game of the season against them, they`ll be knackered. I don`t suppose it will be though, it`ll probably be against one of the promoted teams... Huddersfield maybe.
The actually Premier League campaign begins on the weekend of 12th August and finishes 9 months later on the 13th May.
