Text-Gate - Conte Happy Costa Revealed All

According to The Express Antonio Conte was quite happy that Diego Costa revealed all in the 'should he stay/should he go` text-gate scandal.

In the piece by Lewis Winter he quotes Gabrielle Marcotti as saying that the situation helped make it clear to Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea boardroom that a new striker was required.

With Costa`s 'want-away` tactics during the January transfer window, that could have de-railed our title challenge, he can hardly kick-off about his current treatment by the manager.

Conte`s no.1 target for a replacement is Everton`s Romelu Lukaku, whilst the move appears to have stalled, no doubt, with the Toffees are playing hardball, you must assume that moves are afoot behind the scenes to get the deal done.

For me, I`ll be glad to see Costa go. When he wants to be, he`s a world-class striker, with 58 goals in 119 games, the stats don`t lie. I also think Mourinho was correct with his 'Diego crimes` quote. Sky would endlessly play Costa`s on-field fouls on a loop. Here I`m thinking of that 'stamp` on Emre Can a couple of years ago in the League Cup Semi-final against Liverpool. Other players at other clubs could do the same thing and it would barely be mentioned.

That said he didn`t help himself, he certainly wasn`t afraid to try a bit of simulation, or have a crafty dig at defender. I think what he failed to understand is, there are about 15 TV cameras watching him. I`m sure referees watch the match highlights and don`t like to be mugged off. They don`t forget.

Whatever the outcome, as fans, with no action on the pitch at this time of the year, we are bereft of anything to discuss. All we have is transfer speculation and to be honest it`s a little bit boring.

I remember voicing my discontent at Costa, when he slapped the Arsenal player, and got away with it. How I said that it was disrespectful, and that he was a liability to the club. And if it had been one of our players getting slapped, we would call for their head. (so we had a responsibility to hold our players to the same standard) Well, Costa has now slapped his club. Everyone hates it. Pay attention to personal character from now on, folks. You may not like what's being said by certain people, but it doesn't make it wrong. Costa is a first rate striker, but he's also a thug.

What to do with him ?is the problem, only two clubs interested Milan, who do not want to pay his wages and Atleti, who have a transfer ban, and only want to pay 20 mil . Reconciliation is out of the question .

If he doesn't want to go to China and atleti won't pay £50m, we should let him rot in de stance to teach a lesson to others that no player can strong arm the club!!!

That's a pretty bad message to send the rest of the squad. That's the kind of stuff that agents remember, when they advise their clients. It might be good for your personal sense of justice, but it's horrible business. Especially in today's market. It's far more competitive than in days past, when that tactic worked well...

Well, 5 months ago it was all about the Chinese money, now it's suddenly to do with getting a place in the Spanish team for the World Cup. Costa wants his cake and now he wants to eat it. Maybe we should find a club in China who want him and sell him like the commodity he is. Failing that there's always ebay!

Wonder if we could get PSG, to take him ?, i agree Solid, as much as myself and many would like to see him Malouda'd , its bad for the clubs image and the transfer market .

To be fair to your point, Michael, I'd like to see him punished, too. There really just is no good solution. It's a great day to be a player...

to be punished, not to be punished...reconciliation as @Michael Reid pointed out is out of the question. What then must the club do now that the harm has already been caused??? ...#BLUES4EVER#...

I kind of feel its good to get him off our hands, price doesn't even matter anymore... But then it means he won the battle if we let him go for cheap. I am totally against Maloudaing someone but this is one of those cases where honestly its a lose/lose or a win/win situation for that matter depending on how you see things. I see it as a lose/lose at this point so i am more open to Maloudaing.

I'm saying it's either £50m or Maloudaing him. How much did Palace pay for Benteke? Wat major trophy has Griezmann won to deserve €100m buyout clause? It was de same team dat was tapping him last summer. we gotta give an eye for an eye...

We should let him go. Any amount raised from his sale will help in acquiring another player. But his sale should be on the terms of the club and not on Costa's term.

Who has bid 50mill anyways? Atleti has only bid 20, and DC did not agree to Milan's terms.

It was very disgusting to read of him telling the press what he felt Atletico might want to do with him even when they haven't made a bid yet. He definitely must have talking to them before now. It will be nice to see us sell him to another bidder.

Atleast he was our thug,i personally loved some of his antics especially against arsenal but then he stopped playing and started diving instead of shooting when clear on goal and then attacking the ref when a foul wasn't given,he was almost frustrating to watch you would just bet each time the attack got to him it would breakdown, either he makes a wrong pass or he doesn't even pass at all and is dispossesed..well now he's gone rogue so lets just cut him loose,it was fun while it lasted,i wish he stayed loyal i loved cheering for this guy because i knew what he was capable of..we all did

It doesn't matter what we think or thought. He's completely worthless if he creates a toxic environment. This is such an elementary concept... Remember a manager named Mourinho?
