Frank Lampard Predicts Blues To Retain Title
New BT Sport pundit, and ex-Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard has looked at the contenders for this seasons Premier League title. Has Super Frank let his heart rule his head?
Talking exclusively to ESPN Lampard spoke about Chelsea`s chances of retaining the title
"The mentality has got to improve. Chelsea were seven points clear, 10 points clear for a large part of the back end of last season. Now when you're starting from scratch again, you need an even stronger mentality."
It will be tough for Chelsea to retain the title, second season syndrome makes the task that much harder. The rest of the league will think they`ve worked Chelsea out and will be out to scupper any chance of picking up the Premier League trophy again. As Lampard says
"It's the most competitive league in the world and it's becoming more competitive as we go on, the quality of the league as a whole has improved. It's harder to win games comfortably and I don't think you're going to see teams have the sort of dominance that Manchester United and Liverpool enjoyed in past years."
So far, the transfer window has been disappointing for Chelsea. Not so much for the players they`ve bought in but the players they`ve let go. The loss of Matic to United could be telling, but our top scorer thinks there may be more business done before the window closes.
"I know they've lost a couple of important players but they've also added, and I think they'll add more by the time the window closes. I saw security in the way they played last year."
Ultimately though Frank`s a Blue at heart and he makes the final call
"It's a hard year to call. I went for Chelsea because they had such a good set-up last year. I'm not sure that Manchester United are quite at the level to win it yet. It was maybe a little bit of my heart and a little bit of my head.
Well all I have to sing is, all together now, Super, super Frank, super, super Frank, super, super Frank, super Frankie Lampard.
