Official: Lewis Baker Joins Middlesbrough

As reported earlier in the week on Vital Chelsea, Lewis Baker has officially signed a new 5 year deal at Chelsea prior to signing for Middlesbrough on a season long loan.

Baker who was a part of Chelsea recent tour to Asia, has spent two seasons on loan at the Blues unofficial feeder club Vitesse Arnhem. The midfielder has had two good years in Holland scoring 15 times from 64 appearances, not too shabby.

If he get`s plenty of playing time under Gary Monk`s tutelage, Baker can expect to return to Chelsea next season ready…….. to be sold or loaned off somewhere else.

Whilst it would be lovely to think he`d slot into first team action next season, it`s difficult to be too optimistic for him. That aside he shows great promise and a year playing in a very tough league will only do him good.

On joining the 22 year old said

"It`s going to be an exciting season, there are a lot of games in the Championship, I`m here to give my input and hopefully get the club back to the Premier League. Hopefully we can do that together. I see this as a great opportunity for me to come here and show what I can do. I already know what the Championship is about. I`m going to give it my all and hopefully we get back to where we should be."

Here at Vital Chelsea, we`d like to wish Lewis all the very best for the season ahead and we look forward to welcoming him back next year.
