Has the Drinkwater to Chelsea Deal Stalled?
It seemed, not that long ago, Chelsea had identified Danny Drinkwater as a likely candidate to give some necessary depth to the squad, as far as the midfield was concerned.
However, in recent days, the trail, when it comes to Drinkwater becoming a Chelsea player, has gone cold.
Today, the respected news source, the Telegraph, has shed some light upon the matter.
Our source is implying that Chelsea, some weeks ago, expressed their interest in signing the 27-year-old by offering his club, Leicester City, a transfer fee of £15 million.
Naturally, Drinkwater, so our source implies, would be keen to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
But, it appears, the fee Chelsea offered didn`t meet Leicester`s valuation of the player.
Subsequently, there have been no talks between Chelsea and Drinkwater and that Chelsea are looking at other midfield targets seemingly having baulked at meeting the £30 million valuation put on the players head.
To us, it seems that Drinkwater could be a plan that`s implemented as we drift towards closure of the summer transfer window.
Here at Vital Chelsea we`ll keep an eye open for any further developments.
