Van Dijk Visits London But Is Not Leaving Southampton

Whilst Southampton`s chairman Ralph Krueger is denying that Virgil Van Dijk is leaving the St Mary`s based side this summer, the player himself is letting it be known he`s in London.Van Dijk has submitted a transfer request but the club are still reluctant to let him go.

The The Independent quote Kruegar as saying,

"Virgil is not for sale in this window and it's not personal. It's not about him, it's about an overall much, much, much bigger picture - a change of course for Southampton."

Liverpool have been linked to the centre back but had to pull back from a move and apologise when Southampton complained to the Premier League over an alleged illegal approach. Chelsea have been monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star report that one of Van Dijk`s associate`s has posted a picture of the wantaway Dutchman on his Instagram account. The post is captioned London and tagged 'Big Dog`. The post was subsequently deleted.

The story connects London to the more likely possibility of Chelsea making the signing. Because of course, Liverpool`s transfer committee are unable to carry out negotiations away from Merseyside. Watch this space.

I think Southampon mean business. and VVD might very well stay. If the chelsea boards thinks they will sign Cedric Soares for 15-20m from this Southampton under new their chinese owners and close to the end of the window, they must be very deluded. At this rate, I hope we dont end up paying mad transfer fees for average players close to the end of the window, or worst still, leave the squad as it is. I am looking on with interest.

As i mentioned before after all the bad blood regarding VVD and his tendered transfer request in which he essentially lambasted the Southampton top brass this can only end one of two ways; 1. They absolutely deny his move and make him eat crow all season the way we are doing with Costa. It is a world cup year, VVD just recovered from ankle surgery earlier this year and never got back to playing shape before the end of the season. After the transfer season ends if he is still at Southampton he will tuck his tale between his legs, apologize and do all he needs to get back in the clubs good graces to get playing time to enable him make the world cup squad for the Dutch. Or 2. They receive a crazy bid they cant refuse..Seeing the records City has already broken for defenders in this window that will mean a bid in the range of well over 50 million pounds ( with this crazy market and he being touted as one of the top 5 CBs in the BPL i am seeing figures in the 60-75mill pound range as what it would take to get Southampton to budge) . The sort of money that would tempt Southampton is not money i think our board is ready nor willing to spend and since City is still in the market for a CB and have reportedly shown some interest in the guy if he does move my money is on he ends up with City in a repeat of what happened with Danilo at Real. This guy wont come cheap ..not in transfer fee and not in wages either. Honestly considering all our other glaring desperate needs he is not even a priority.

Id rather see him at Southampton than any of the other clubs , Southampton are not selling any players, they do not need to. Expect them to go on a Milan like spending spree next summer . I do not know how wealthy the new owner is ?, but significant enough to make a dent in the EPL landscape .
