Match Day Moments - Stoke City (a)

Match Day Moments - Stoke City (a)

This weekend, Chelsea are on the road again.

It`s a trip to the Potteries to take on a Stoke City side that have already beaten Arsenal at the BET365 Stadium and also became the only side to take points off Manchester United, when the two sides drew 2-2.

Chelsea arrive in Staffordshire hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, after dropping two points at home to Arsenal, last Sunday.

The midweek fixture, against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup, allowed Antonio Conte to rest some of his regular starters, but it also gave the boss the chance to give Eden Hazard his first start of the season in a Chelsea shirt.

As is always the norm, we`re running our regular Match Day Moments feature whereby we actively encourage you to leave your views on a variety of subjects including but not limited to:

1 - The build-up to the fixture.

2 - The starting eleven selected by Antonio Conte.

3 - The action as it happens at the BET365 Stadium.

4 - Your thoughts in the period between the final whistle being sounded and the match report being posted on the site.

Here`s keeping our fingers crossed that we become the first big-team to get all three points at the BET365 Stadium this season.

We all know how Stoke play a physical game so let's hope that Bakayoko and not Fabregas partners Kante today or we're in trouble. Will also be a good test for Morata, he'll have to man up today and show who's the boss. The other issue is given his slow & carefully managed introduction to playing time do you introduce Hazard today from the start knowing he could get kicked off the park. In Conte we trust.

We need to start with our strongest lineup. I understand that games against AM and city are just by the corner, but we cannot afford not to get all 3 points from this if we're serious about defending our EPL victory. We simply cannot let the Manchesters clubs increase their leads with 5 or 6 points. Start Hazard and Bakayoko... we have to win today.

We should go with 3-5-2 today, with Kante-Baka-Willian in midfield and Hazard-Morata as front 2; or play a 4-3-3 formation with Kante-Baka-Willian in midfield and Hazard-Morata-Pedro as front 3.

Starting Fab will be suicidal. Mayb in a 3-5-2 though.

I wonder who is making decisions for Conte, why Hazard start on the bench against Stoke when he is fully fit & ready to go?

Why is Hazard on the bench again? He's our best player, he has to start when fit, I don't care if we have CL game mid week, let's win this first and then we'll think about the next game afterwards...

One can only hope the front three play better than what they served us against Arsenal. A lot of our fans have called for Cahill & Fabregas dropped for Rudiger & Bakayoko, now that is achieved but Hazard wasn't given chance to start with Morata. I hope Conte knows his strongest eleven thus far. Fabregas though a talented player & good Passer of the ball can't stop the opposition from physically imposing themselves & over run the midfield. I guess if he will start at all Conte should play the duo of Baka, Kante & DD to stand up against such physicality. KTBFFH!!!

Willian the headless chicken starts again, let's hope his final ball is better than recent games. I'm glad Cahill's on the bench, I like the look of the back three, let's hope they can keep it together.

Probably best to keep Hazard on the bench. Stoke are hardly renowned for their delicate tackling. We still have enough to beat them.

Why Would Conte start hazard who just became fully fit and played 90 minutes just 3 days ago. Sometimes I wonder if peeps here have played any level of football at all. I understand fans want to always see the team's best player on the field but we have two very tough matches against Atletico away and Man city coming up next - and I am sure Hazard will start those two.It makes sense to start him from the bench today and give him 20 - 30 minutes.

That Christensen lad is super composed, what a header pass to the keeper. Ouch! Could have been one apiece, goal line clearance by Azpilicueta. Some sloppy defensive play from our boys. THOU SHALL STOP!

@layorh12, let's hope we win this match, only then will the decision to start Hazard from bench be reasonable. For me, winning this game is very important, and so far this season, our attack has been almost toothless and useless without Hazard...

For the last quarter of an hour I only saw Pedro touching the ball once, he should step up or Hazard brought in. Don't like what am seeing from Bakayoko so far....easily dispossessed. Is Conte sure that accident didn't remotely affected him?
