Chelsea Fans Drop The Morata Chant

Chelsea Fans Drop The Morata Chant

Chelsea fans once again showed their class in comparison to some of their rivals. Two chants about Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku have made the headlines in recent days. Both teams had been warned by the anti-discrimination group Kick-It-Out, to do just that.

Chelsea supporters` anti-semitic chant was sung for Alvaro Morata and made mention of the 'Y` word. Morata and Chelsea were very quick to ask fans not to sing it, they have heeded the warning and drew praise from Morata and the club after today`s game at Stoke City.

With the Spanish striker bagging his first hat-trick for the club, the travelling army of support came up with a new, non offensive chant. It was short and sweet but appreciated nonetheless, it went,

`Alvaro, Alvaro, he comes from sunny Spain, he's better than Harry Kane`

It may need work, but Morata took to Twitter after the game,

Respect to the Chelsea fans. Antonio Conte spoke to the media following the game, he had this to say,

'Our fans were fantastic today. They pushed the team a lot in every moment of the game, and in this stadium where the home crowd push a lot. I want to thank the fans because they helped the team today and I am pleased also because there was a good change to the Morata song.`

Meanwhile with the Manchester United fans in Southampton, the emphasis was very much on the hampton. Their chant about the size of Romelu Lukaku`s man appendage is continuing to get an airing. It was still featuring in the Red Army`s scintillating playlist of chants, despite calls from Kick-It-Out to dispense with the racially motivated chant.

Many would argue the Lukaku chant is just an amusing ditty, just harmless toilet humour. But it`s much worse than that. The club and the player had asked United fans not to sing it, but in the game at St. Mary's they did. Following it up with another classic,

'We're Man United, we'll sing what we want.'

Classy stuff there from United`s travelling support. If that was Chelsea………..
