Chelsea v Roma (Champions League) - Fascinating Facts

Chelsea v Roma (Champions League) - Fascinating Facts

As Chelsea prepare to take on Roma, in a Champions League game, at Stamford Bridge, we`ve taken time out to look into the record and form books to come up with a few fascinating facts.

1 - With regards to the Champions` League group stages, Chelsea have won their group on the last 3 occasions to qualify for the knockout stages and 11 times in total.

2 - The last time Chelsea and Roma played each other in the Champions League was back in the 2008 / 2009 when the two ties were both won by the home side.

3 - Chelsea have only once failed to qualify from the group stages of the competition, back in the 2012 / 2013 season Chelsea became the first holders of the famous trophy to go out in the group stages. The misery was somewhat alleviated when Chelsea went on to beat Benfica in the Europa League Final.

4 - Roma have a poor record when it comes to European ties in England. The Serie A outfit have played 15 games, lost 9, drawn 5 and won just 1.

5 - That single victory mentioned above came back in the 2000 / 2001 season when they beat Liverpool in the UEFA Cup.
