Chelsea Ladies Keep Up The Pressure On City
Chelsea`s Ladies team under the direction of Emma Hayes, this afternoon, continued their 100% winning record in all games so far this season. Playing at home at Kingsmeadow the ladies recorded a fine 6-0 victory over Yeovil Town Ladies.
In what has been an impressive start, half of Chelsea`s victories have been 6-0 wins. 1,821 people attended the game this afternoon which saw Crystal Dunn, Karen Carney and Eniola Aluko score two goals each.
The win comes in the week that saw manager Hayes, extend her contract with the club. The game was a mismatch from the start. Chelsea lead the FA Women`s Super League having yet to concede a goal. Yeovil are the polar opposite having lost every game, sit bottom and are yet to score.
Sadly for the West Country side, Chelsea were in no mood to be charitable. A goal on 7 minutes by Crystal Dunn set the ball rolling and the Blues never looked back. Despite the best efforts of Yeovil`s keeper and captain Megan Walsh, the result of the game never looked in doubt.
The 18th minute goal by Eniola Aluko opened the floodgates that resulted in three goals in just four exciting minutes. An assist from Dunn, via a cross, saw Karen Carney head home Chelsea`s third goal. Dunn, herself scored the fourth just two minutes later.
Chelsea led 4-0 at the interval. The second half just delivered more of the same. Chelsea looked as though they could score whenever they liked. A goal apiece for Aluko and Carney sealed the win and kept Chelsea ahead of Manchester City on goal difference.
A busy schedule now ensues for the ladies, the coming week sees trips to Brighton and Bristol for the first ties in the Continental Tyres Cup. Those are followed by the first leg of the Champions League clash with Rosengard which takes place at Kingsmeadow on 8th November.
