Fabregas Happy to Extend Chelsea Career

Fabregas Happy to Extend Chelsea Career

Playing in an advanced role, as opposed to playing in a defensive midfield role alongside Bakayoko, Cesc Fabregas showed, against Manchester United, just what he is, at the age of thirty, still capable of.

The Spaniard`s intricate passing ability opened up Manchester United at will.

Recently, there has been talk of a new contract for the Spaniard and it seems that despite there being interest from Manchester United for the player, Fabregas wants to remain at Stamford Bridge.

In an article in the Evening Standard, when asked about remaining with Chelsea, Cesc is quoted as having remarked,

"Would I like to renew? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well.

"I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for them. I have given my all for the club for the last three-and-a-half years.

"This is a fantastic club for me and I have had a fantastic time here. Hopefully another contract will happen. Time will tell."

And on the accusation that, at 30-years-of-age, his career might be on the wane, Cesc further added,

"I know that people panic after players reach 30 and stuff like that, but I don`t believe in this. I feel well, I feel young in my mind. I train every day as hard as possible.

"I think in the last 48 games I have played in 47, and I only missed one because I was suspended against Tottenham in August.

"I always try to give my best. I will play at any moment, even when I`m sick or not 100 per cent."

Fabregas might not have the pace he once had but what is it they say about letting the ball do the work!

But what are your views?

Should Chelsea offer Fabregas an extended deal?

He still has plenty to offer to our game as long as he is not played with only Baka or Kante by his side. With Baka and Kante on either side of him, his defensive frailties will be covered and he will have free reign to pop balls throughout the opposition's half of the pitch. He is well suited in the 3-5-2 formation.

His presence always give us options in midfield, so why not? Just don't play him in defensive position anymore Conte.
