New Stadium Not Ready until 2024 Shock

Earlier this week in a front-page poll, we questioned whether the 'New Stamford Bridge` will ever get completed.

Well it sees it will, but it could be another 7 years before it is completed, and Chelsea can move in.

Furthermore, the demolition of the old Stamford Bridge and the building of the New Stamford Bridge will see Chelsea needing to seek temporary accommodation for as many as four seasons.

Our associates at the Daily Mail have run an article bringing to the forefront the plans the club has.

It appears work is scheduled to start towards the back end of 2018 with a club spokesperson quoted as having remarked,

"We hope, subject to approvals, to start (work) in the third quarter of 2018 including the museum and health club being demolished, with work on the railway lines starting in 2019.

"There will be at least two further seasons here after this one."


Before further adding,

"The local authority has been very helpful.

"We have legal matters and statutory approvals to resolve before any works can commence and this may take some time but is not unique to this project."


With regards to a new temporary home, it appears that Chelsea are considering eight different sites with Wembley and The London Stadium two that get mentioned, plus the grounds of Arsenal and Tottenham.

But it appears there is, at this moment in time, no rush to pick a temporary home with a club spokesperson confirming, that,

"Have lots of time to make a decision and none of the potential venues need more than a year`s notice."

2024 is a long way off and it might be a race of which comes first, the new ground or my retirement!
