One Present Less For Mrs Conte This Christmas
Following his sending off in the game against Swansea City, Antonio Conte accepted the standard charge after being charged with misconduct by the FA.
That has resulted in a fine of £8,000. It was the Italian`s first instance of being sent to the stands in England and rather than risk further punishment, Conte took his medicine like a good boy. That means no touchline ban. However it probably means just one less present for Mrs. Conte this Christmas.
Conte was furious during the game as Swansea whittled down the clock with some relentless timewasting. He vented his anger on the fourth official Lee Mason before referee Neil Swarbrick came over and also received a tongue lashing from the manager.
After the game Conte apologised for his behaviour but still thought he was correct in his belief that the Swans were blatantly using delaying tactics. In that I make him right.
At least we can draw a line under the incident, although there may still be repercussions in the Conte household.
