Alonso Sings the Praises of Luis Enrique

Alonso Sings the Praises of Luis Enrique

The subject of whether or not Antonio Conte will hang on to his job at Stamford Bridge remains a hugely debatable topic.

We`re all aware that all may not be well behind the scenes and that, already, the media have mentioned several possible candidates as the next incumbent of the managerial hot-seat at Stamford Bridge.

One name that continues to be mentioned in the same sentence as Conte`s replacement is the former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique.

On paper, Enrique would seem to be an ideal candidate, whilst with Barcelona he won:

• Champions League
• La Liga (x2)
• Copa del Rey (x3)
• UEFA Super Cup
• FIFA Club World Cup
• Spanish Super Cup

It seems that those achievements have made Luis Enrique the favourite for the job, if Conte and Chelsea part-company.

It also seems that, in an interview he gave to the media vehicle, Cope, and as picked up by the red-top publication, The Mirror, our own Marcos Alonso was backed into a corner during an interview, with the wing-back being asked about Luis Enrique.

Alonso, trying to remain diplomatic, came back with a pretty decent answer, remarking,

"Luis Enrique has shown at Barcelona that he is a great coach with many qualities and I believe he would be good for any club, but I do not know him a lot on a personal level."

Probably so, but it shouldn`t be forgotten that whilst at the Camp Nou, Enrique had a vast array of talent at his disposal.

If called upon would he prove to be the same success at Chelsea?

Alonso might be first out the door most likely.
