Arsene Wenger! Overated or What!

Since Arsene Wenger arrived on these shores in 1996, we have all been subjected by the press to the fallacy that is the genius of Mr Wenger.

But just how good is he really, or is it just hype?

Even if we ignore the calls for Arsene to visit Specsavers, to see if they can cure his failing eyesight. Or ignore the fact that for every great player he's bought, his scatter gun approach of buying lorry-loads of kiddies, (usually from the French speaking world) has resulted in dozens of players being released by Arsenal every season.

For some reason parts of the British press think the sun shines out of his Arsenal.

But how does his record stand up. Well un-surprisingly not as good as we are led to believe.

His current trophy count is...

3 PL titles

4 FA Cups

0 League Cups

In total he has managed only 7 domestic trophies from a possible 33 available to be won during his time as Arsenal Manager
Compare that to Manchester United, in the same last 11 years

6 PL titles

2 FA Cups

1 League Cup

A total of 9 domestic trophies, in 11 seasons

How about Liverpool`s record

0 PL titles

2 FA Cups

2 League Cups

A measly total of 4 domestic trophies, in 11 seasons. No don't laugh, it's true.

Now all these facts and figures are all well and good. But where is Chelsea I hear you say. Don't worry; I'm now going to put Wenger's alleged talent into context now.

Chelsea's record in the last 11 seasons is as follows,

2 PL titles

3 FA Cups

3 League Cups

A total of 8 domestic trophies in 11 seasons.

Yes, it's absolutely true, Chelsea have won more domestic trophies than Arsenal, since the myopic one took charge. And I didn't even mention his failure to land anything in Europe. (Where we can at least, hold up two European trophies in this time).

Is Arsene a good manager? Possibly! But he's certainly not a great manager.

Are Wenger 's Arsenal the best team in England? Nah! Not in a million years.

They are not even the best team in London.........and that my friends, is a fact.
