ok guys... I hate doing this because I ha actually given up on the idea of us getting Falcao. Hes had a fairly serious injury and I had begun to get used to the idea of us possibly getting Cavani or Costa. After all , they are younger. At the moment , although I would still be happy if we bought Falcao, I feel its going to be a big risk. Could he turn out to be another "Torres" ? Are Mourinhos words true or just another deflection from the truth or "mind games" to get the players we have to perform in te Galatasaray game?

Have to say I now fear another Shevshenko/Torres disaster looming with Falcao; although I would certainly have taken him a year ago.
I reckon a Costa/Lukaku partnership would offer us two significantly different options for next season; however if we jettison all 3 of our current hitters then we need one other too.
With the quality of attacking midfielders on our books we dont necessarily need a 30 goal a season man...just someone that can chip in with a few and importantly hold that ball up for our midfielders to operate off.

Yeah same. I no longer want Falcao either. Players are never the same after ACL injuries (like Essien) also he's 28 years old. We shouldn't really be spending £50M on a guy of his age. Costa is 25 and only £32M whilst Mandzukic will be 28 by the time of the Summer transfer window but he'll be like half the price of Falcao.

As for our midfielders, Willian seems to have no end product and bad decision making whilst Oscar doesn't create enough chances nor score enough goals. And they're all guilty of holding onto the ball too long. At the start of the season when we had Mata + KDB instead of Salah I'd have agreed with that statement but not anymore. With Lampard aging we don't really have any goal scoring midfielders apart from Hazard. Schurrle could be one but he never plays. Mata was one but he's gone. Salah and Willian are horrendous finishers whilst Oscar is an inconsistent finisher. I thin we do need a ST that can score a lot of goals right now.

We never needed a significant goal scorer in the team. But also whenever we won the league, somebody did chip in with a lot of goals. Take Drogba during our domestic double. And then even Anelka and Malouda chipped in quite a few of them. But now the player demographic here has changed. We have more agile and young players than we ever had, and I think this will need a new formula.

One question though. Does Mou really want a goal-scoring machine or does he want a Hazard in the mold of a Ronaldo?

Um the story that refuses to die ....Could we be back in for him??? http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/477709/Monaco-prepared-to-d...

Falcao cost Monaco £50m when he signed from Atletico Madrid last summer but the Principality club reportedly don't believe he has lived up to expectations and are worried about how he will return from a serious knee injury.

Indeed, the club are disappointed that Falcao has not showed greater enthusiasm about the project and has failed to act as a positive influence on the squad.

The player himself has always publicly insisted that he wants to remain at Monaco but is family is not thought to enjoy living in France as much as they did in Spain.

While a return to Madrid with Real has been mooted, Chelsea have also been alerted to the situation and could launch a move for the 28-year-old if they encounter difficulties trying to sign Diego Costa from Atletico, with Manchester United and Manchester City both also interested in the player.

Falcao said recently: "Will I be in Monaco next season? In principle, yes, especially if I take good care of my knee, I will start playing again and play in the Champions League with Monaco.

"There has been a lot of speculation in recent years. I'm used to it and I try to keep my sanity.

"Real Madrid? These rumours unsettle me and they don't bring anything good.

"I'm a footballer. I do my best for my club, which today is Monaco."

Hopefully it's as BS as it sounds. Not worth the price and no one knows if he'll be the same after coming back from an ACL injury.

CHELSEA are weighing up a £25million bid for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao after selling David Luiz to PSG for £50m.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid and is now keen on Colombian hitman Falcao too.

For £25M huh? Along with the Costa signing this would leave us with a scary looking strike force of Costa Falcao and Lukaku.

TBH I doubt Monaco would sell for half the price they bought him for last year but if they are we should consider it.
