When Chelsea signed Petr Cech many questioned why! After all, didn`t we already have one of the best keepers around in Carlo Cudicini? Nevertheless, with hindsight being the last untapped power source, we can see why.

Claudio Ranieri left us a lasting legacy when he spotted and subsequently recruited Cech. The six foot five inch keeper has become one of Mourinho`s untouchables, one of the first names on the team sheet. His keeping prowess has become legendary as his skill, allied with his physique, has seen Cech pull off some brilliant saves.

Last season, not even the horror of a head injury that required brain surgery, could diminish his game. Although he was sidelined for several months, months that many will say lost us our chance of winning three Premiership titles on the trot, he came back as brave as ever.

Indeed, his performance in the FA Cup semi-final, at Old Trafford, against Blackburn, was one of the prime reasons we got to Wembley. A couple of saves made that day even had Blackburn supporters offering their admiration on our site.

Petr Cech, undoubtedly the best keeper in the Premiership and possibly the world.
