A Spurs View on Chelsea
The season has gone fantastically well. I think due to the fact our team has made a few crucial mistakes costing us valuable points in games that we have all forgotten just how far Martin Jol and the team have taken us this year. The great thing is we now have a young backbone to the team which can be built on to bring even more success in the future.
2. What changes would you like to see made?
I am happy with the way things are progressing. Obviously if we finish 4th I would like that to guarantee a Champions League place but apart from that, with some good additions in the summer, I am confident that Spurs will start to fulfil their potential again.
3. Do you admire the way Mourinho has managed Chelsea?
I did admire Mourinho when he first came, now he reminds me of a sulking toddler, pouting his lips and stamping his feet when he doesn't win. I watched the Chelsea v Liverpool game and could see no-one but the manager to blame for changing around a winning formula. I liked what the Villa editor said in his interview with you, he started off interesting now he is treading a thin line and being lampooned.
4. Select a mixed Chelsea / Spurs XI (Ratio 6:5 or 5:6)
I'd take Frank Lampard, John Terry, Eidor Gudjohnson, Wayne Bridge, Joe Cole and possibly Huth as back up and blend them with our players.
5. Who would you prefer to sign - Terry or Lampard?
6. What would it mean to you / Spurs to qualify for the Champions League?
It would mean that we can attract even more quality to the team. We have a backbone of good young and international standard players, with the right additions this season and for the seasons to come, we can start to compete. It would also obviously be a massive bonus for the negotiations to find a new sponsor. On the flip side it would obviously be a massive blow if we finished fourth and still didn't qualify from the Champions League. It is good to see that we are guaranteed European football next season though. Now we need to ensure that we compete well now we are there.
7. Should Abramovich speak out more or is the silent way the best?
Total silence leads to suspicions. I could get all heavy now and say how I despise the way 'the few' have raped Russia of their assets, but it is probably not appropriate here. I would say, no matter what money he brought to the table, I would have despised a man like him coming to White Hart Lane. The money the uber rich from Russia waste could have done so much for their country.
8. Is our bad media image a result of being successful?
Probably, although Manchester United seemed to be the media darlings when they were doing well, it was just other fans who couldn't stand their success. I think you need to add dignity and humility to winning, Mourinho isn't that sort of person and I would say there is a fair amount of incredulation at how much money Abramovich has spent.
9. Facilities - White Hart Lane or Stamford Bridge?
Could never say anywhere other than White Hart Lane. Like all fans, your ground becomes a part of you.
10. Biggest gripe about Chelsea?
I've little respect for the way you buy top players and then don't play them.
