Day 16 23rd May 2006

Day 16 23rd May 2006
I suppose its because Im in a relatively good mood. The sun is out and the rain has, albeit temporarily, ceased. More importantly, I stumbled across a treasure trove of football on television last night. Rather than tune in to the banal Big Brother I stuck with ITV and was pleasantly surprised to see a programme entitled Football Aid grab my attention.

Normally, such programmes dont entice me, Ive never been a fan of so-called celebrities doing there bit for charity knowing that album sales will inevitably boost their flagging careers. However, this programme is different due to the fact that featured are some of our very own ex-Chelsea legends.

Comprised of two teams - England and the Rest of the World both teams have been given six days to mould together a team of ex-professionals and celebrities to take each other on. Featuring for England is Graeme Le Saux whilst the Rest of the World feature none other than Gianfranco Zola, Gus Poyet and Ruud Gullit. With the Chelsea split in favour of the Rest of the World, Im afraid patriotism doesnt come into it.

Sadly, the programme does have the odd drawback, Ive never been a fan of those two Oompah Lumpas from Byker Grove and their childish jokes do nothing to add further intrigue to what could be a cracking programme.

Tune in tonight to make your own mind up, you never know you might just become hooked like me. Big Brother, move over the football is back for a week.

More tomorrow.
